JOB SUMMARY

Guide a classroom of young children in a variety of educational activities, including arts and crafts, free play, and storytelling. Your prime responsibility is to teach the fundamental concepts of learning while incorporating Little Cubs foundations

You should be capable of inspiring, encouraging, and developing young children, each of whom will have different abilities, challenges, and personalities. The top candidates will also have a creative mindset, a positive demeanor and good administrative skills, in order to plan and execute lessons which are memorable, innovative, and achieve the desired learning outcomes.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

• Plan a curriculum that addresses early childhood education requirements and incorporates Little Cubs core foundations.
• Use creative, hands-on methods of learning, such as artistic expression, free play, and storytelling.
• Encourage and monitor social interactions between children.
• Supervise children during lunch, out on the playground, or on field trips.
• Make sure the classroom is clean, safe, and well-organized.
• Set up the materials and workspaces required for class activities.
• Communicate with parents about their child’s progress
• Participate in training/educational opportunities to expand knowledge and skills.
• Maintain records and attendance.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Maintain order and discipline of students.
• Create an environment that facilitates achievement.
• Monitor supply needs and keeps the supply room neat and orderly.
• Exhibit excellent communication with parents, students, staff, management and coworkers.
• Ensure a productive work environment by participating in staff meetings.
• Make and/or recommends needed repairs to facility and/or equipment.
• Orient new students to the learning center program as well as safety and disciplinary rules.

SKILLS/KNOWLEDGE REQUIRED:

• At least 18 years of age
• Must have one or more of the following:
• Combined experience and/or formal training equivalent to a minimum of one year experience working with youth and knowledge of youth development.
• Formal training, and/or experience teaching youth while creating engaging learning experiences.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to motivate youth and manage behavior problems.
• Ability to deal with the general public.
• Ability to plan and implement quality learning programs for youth.
• Ability to organize and supervise students in a safe environment.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Daily contact with staff, students, outside organizations and individuals to plan, coordinate and deliver programs. The job requires the ability to stand for extended periods, kneel, reach, bend, and lift objects weighing in excess of 25lbs.

Pay: $16.00 per hour

Experience:

• Teaching: 1 year (Preferred)
• Childcare: 1 year (Preferred)

License/Certification:

• Child Development Associate Certification (Preferred)
