Summary of the Job:

A product architect is an extremely critical and distinct role that is responsible for devising a functional well-defined product architecture blueprint that addresses our product market fit as well as partnering with product management to define the product feature set that aligns to our product roadmap.

Product architecture is encompassing, dynamic, and multifaceted, and so are its practitioners. Regardless of the actual title or the selected software development method that is being employed, the product architect is a key influential role at the intersection of technology, business, and product design. This role will work closely with product and technology teams to ensure we achieve marketplace success with our feature set we offer within our technology stack and subject matter expertise in the credit card space we offer our brand customers and partners.

A product architect is a key leadership position within the product development and engineering teams with this role providing the proposed product’s architectural blueprints and the required guidance to the product teams (product managers, engineering, and scrum). This role acts as the bridge and interface between the problem space and the solution space— between product management and product development.

Essential Function: Devise a Product’s Functional blueprints
Primary Deliverables: Product (functional and non-functional requirements) alignment to the technology stack, third party technology partners and architecture blueprints
Support Deliverables: Product features matrix, roadmap (contributory role)
Internal Interfaces: Product Engineering, Product Management, Business Stakeholders, Organizational Leaders
External Interfaces: Contract development firms, Technology Partners, Brand Customers
Mindset: Technical, formalized, Deterministic, Innovative, Analytical, Conceptual - Tactical and Strategic
Role Responsibilities:
  • Provide credit card domain expertise across our product teams, technology partners and brand customers
  • Own architectural decisions across multiple disciplines (software, data, cloud platform and security) of our technology stack
  • Understand and communicate the market opportunity, customer problems that are worth solving
  • Must be well-versed in technology and engineering practices and processes
  • Perform design, oversight, development, and support of existing and new products
  • Understand product vision and business needs to define product requirements and product architectural solutions/blueprints
  • Develop architectural and design principles to improve performance, capacity, and scalability of products
  • Work with Product Managers and Team Leads in planning and execution of new product features and releases
  • Consult Product Management and Business Stakeholders to clarify objectives and functional requirements for new or modified products
  • Collaborate with product teams in the solution and engineering efforts (ensure alignment to outcomes)
  • Work with pre-sales and implementation teams in solution demonstrations.
  • Maintain the architectural blueprint while ensuring proper alignment to the product roadmap and intended outcomes
  • Ensure product development is optimally executing from the architectural blueprint and product roadmap to achieve the desired outcomes
  • Define product validation steps to deliver products that meet platform, security, and operational needs (the non-functional requirements of a technology stack)
  • Facilitate the creation, review, and sign off planned release deliverables
  • Provide support for production escalations and problem resolution for customers
  • Assist engineering teams with issues needing technical expertise or complex systems knowledge
  • Develop broad knowledge about current and future product features
  • Analyze market segments and customer base to develop market solution
  • Assess and evaluate future platform and technology partners to align to our market fit

Desired Qualifications:
  • Technical undergraduate degree (specific or diverse subjects - Data, Software, Cloud Platforms, Computer Science or Engineering
  • Advanced knowledge of modern development productivity tools
  • Experience with CI/CD concepts and workflows
  • Strong background in agile methodologies
  • 5+ years of experience in a combination of architecture domains such as data, software, security, or cloud platforms
  • Firm understanding of the differences between being product-led vs project-led
  • Well versed in API Management and API First product-led approach in creating desirable, powerful, and simplistic API solutions that solve problems for our customers and partners
  • Knowledge of best practices related to SDLC, cyber security & compliance SOC2 regulatory requirements for credit card
  • Keep up with software industry and cloud native trends and innovation in support of our technology stack
