RFA Engineering (www.rfamec.com) is looking for a growth oriented candidates that want to join our team at our customer's facility in Clarion, IA. As a member of our team, the selected candidates will work with our engineering staff and our customer's staff to support the development of self-propelled row crop sprayers using state of the art engineering tools.

Job Description

  • Perform basic product design, testing and/or analysis work for a defined portion of a project.
  • Primary responsibility for providing new or improving existing design for the machine/project tasks that they are assigned.
  • Understand vehicle layout and how the different systems function together.
  • Responsible for supporting new designs with all functional groups through implementation.
  • Operates in a team environment, providing input to design solutions and participating in design reviews.
  • Develops recommendations within established guidelines; work and decisions are reviewed by supervisors before implementation.
  • Collaborate with others in engineering, supply chain, manufacturing, customer support, and product management to help make all facets of the design cycle work efficiently when it comes to hydraulics.
  • Manage tasks inside the projects to complete on planned time and at or below cost.
  • Applies existing applications to routine problems.
  • Learns and applies company engineering policies and practices; learns company products.
  • Produces and/or evaluates possible design solutions to improve cost, quality and performance based on specialized knowledge of engineering applications. This may include possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management and/or supplier personnel.
  • Analyzes assignments and determines engineering specifications which must be fulfilled for routine problems or projects.
  • Compiles and furnishes necessary information (engineering decisions and reports of pertinent design analyses data) to document the design solution required for building of prototypes and adoption of the design with possible involvement of other functional engineers, supply management and/or supplier personnel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's of Science in Mechanical or Agricultural Engineering or related technology degree.
  • Experience in 3-D Modeling Software; Creo experience (Preferred), Solidworks (Alternatively)
  • Previous experience with Windchill or PDMLink.
  • Experience with SAP and C Projects.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T.
  • Design experience or exposure to off-road mobile equipment.
  • Fundamental understanding of machine forms relevant to the specific job assignment and Company division/unit.
  • Knowledge/familiarity with machines manufactured by competitors.
  • Technical experience relating to design/diagnostics of mechanical/electrical/hydraulic systems.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude demonstrated through work experience or hobbies.
  • Excellent communication both written and verbal.
  • Demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and commitments.
  • Strong analytical, problem solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a team environment.
