Lakeview Terrace– a Life Care Community, is enhancing and advancing the art of Life Care. Our gated campus occupies 100 serene acres on the edge of the Ocala National Forest. Featuring two lakes with fishing docks, walking paths, a natural area for picnicking and a new Rehab Center and Exercise Pool Complex. Purpose:
Prepare meats, main dishes, vegetables, breakfast, breads and desserts. Assist in standardization of recipes to meet menu needs. Prevent waste and use leftovers in an innovative way. Assist in maintaining portion control of food served.
Essential Duties:
- Work closely with the Lead Cook to coordinate menus, plan breads and desserts. Estimate the quantities of food supplies needed for menu items. Assist in re-ordering stock to meet menu needs.
- Check the menu daily, making sure all menu items is available. Check the menu for the following day and make advance preparations.
- Prepare serving line trays of food in an attractive and appetizing manner.
- Label, date and store left-over’s and ingredients used during and after food preparation.
- Keep all ovens and cooking equipment clean and in good repairs and keep all cooking areas neat, clean and orderly. If assigned to the late shift, responsible for ensuring that the kitchen is properly closed down at the end of the business day.
- Provide assistance and suggestions for catering functions within the Community and Health Care Center.
- Comply with all sanitary codes imposed by government agencies upon our facility. Take and record all food and fridge temperature daily.
- Supervise staff in the absence of Executive Chef or Sous Chef and Lead Cook.
- Attend all required in-services and trainings.
- Ensure compliance with all federal and state rules and regulations. Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
Required Qualification:
- Obtain a professional Food Handler Certification within 90 days of employment.
- For purposes of effective communication with residents, families and staff must be able to see, hear, speak, read and write English.
- Maintain ability to stretch, push, pull, kneel, reach, twist, lift unassisted at least 35 lbs and walk or stand up to eight hours.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Preferably two years prior cook experience in a restaurant, hospital or extended care facility.
