POSITION SUMMARY:

Operate and maintain spray dryer.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Coordinate with previous operator and Production Supervisor concerning the current/upcoming production run
• Note any problems or idiosyncrasies of the product and go over special packaging requirements
• Operate the dryer, using the proper cores and orifices to makes sure they are cleaned or replaced when necessary
• Check spray patterns a minimum of three (3) times per hour and make corrections in order to avoid excessive buildup in the dryer
• Make sure all of the production equipment is in good working order, clean the high-pressure pump, drop points and inline filters so there is an even and consistent flow of slurry to the dryer
• Oversee the blending ang bagging operations on your shift
• Re-tare the bagging scale every hour and check bag/drum weights every hour while making sure packaging materials, labels, stencils, etc. are correct
• Check all blends for proper ingredients and weights
• Ensure the blender always has adequate amount of product available for drying
• Pull samples of finished product from each pallet and check them for proper moisture content, color and consistency
• Log dryer readings and product moisture on dryer report sheets and in Operator’s book noting any downtime or problems that may have occurred
• Oversee the cleaning and sweeping of the dryer and bag house/cyclones after a production run
• Make sure all the paperwork pertaining to the finished run is completed and initialed by the Bagger and Operator
• Other duties as needed

REQUIREMENTS:

Education/Experience: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred and previous experience as a bagger and a blender in the present manufacturing environment.

Specialized Knowledge, Licenses, and Abilities, etc.: Must be able to move 50 to 75 pounds with consistency.

Working Conditions: Loud environment with exposure to powder and heavy equipment in a manufacturing atmosphere.
