SUMMARY: This position is responsible for assisting with developing a competent staff of employees through coaching, training and production techniques; providing timely performance reports to Management along with recommendations on improving all training activities; and by following and implementing Company policies and performance of contractual and production scheduling requirements. This position is an integral part of operations management and will also assist supervisor with maintaining high production, quality, and yields while ensuring the safest working environment possible. This position requires an essential understanding and control of the production process, accurate record keeping.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following:

  • Assist with establishing and clearly communicating realistic job requirements for employees; provide frequent feedback and review on performance and accurately appraise performance results against communicated expectations and when necessary, recommend action to resolve performance or work habit deficiencies.
  • Train and prepare all New Hire employees for processing operations.
  • Complete employee contact sheets daily and weekly employee contact logs as well as Production New Hire Evaluation forms.
  • Identify reasons for new hire turnover and provide feedback to management.
  • Assist with checking on daily production orders to ensure fulfillment of customer orders; communicate product specifications and job orders to workers.
  • Assist with ensuring compliance with Government regulations, safety programs, and Company policies procedures and the importance of quality;
  • Assist with coordinating and collaborating with other departments in plant in establishing and carrying out responsibilities.
  • Assist with ensuring compliance with the safety policies and procedures.
  • Overseeing employee morning exercises.
  • Assist with the inspection of products to verify conformance to specifications and assist with directing setup and adjustments of machines.
  • Assist with analyzing and resolving work problems, or assist workers in solving work problems.
  • Assist with accurately managing time keeping and production records.
  • Assist with maximizing production yields; efficiencies and insures adherence to product specifications
  • Assist with ensuring work areas have passed USDA Inspection.
  • May assume responsibility for the department in the event of supervisor absence.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: High School Diploma or equivalent (GED). Three to five years meat industry experience. Strong organizational skills required. Knife training skills and experiences. Strong leadership abilities and characteristics to lead employees to success.

MUST HAVE AN ACCEPTABLE ATTENDANCE AND PERFORMANCE RECORD. CANNOT BE ON ANY ACTIVE DISCIPLINARY WRITE-UPS.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Must be able to climb ladders and platforms, and enter confined spaces and wear all safety equipment. Must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds or more.

  • Risk of electrical shock and vibration
  • Noise level in the work environment is moderate but can be loud when in the production area
