JOB SUMMARY:

Production Worker 1 tends wire machines to produce steel wire work pieces. The role focuses on single operation mechanical equipment producing components that meet specifications while ensuring production quotas are met in a timely fashion. The Production 1 role is an important part of the Production Team that observes the highest standards of safety and quality. We are looking for both first and 2nd shift, as well as part-time.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

- Effectively operate one or all the following mechanical wire forming operations, Drilling, Bending, Press, Chamfering, and Cold Heading.

- Reads job specific routing cards, standard work sheets, and any quality alerts prior to starting a machine operation.

- Read, interpret, and follow work instructions and supporting information provided in job documents.

- Follow all written and verbal instructions while meeting production targets for rate and efficiency.

- Manually loading components in fixture or loading automatic feeding device and observing operation.

- Inspects wire parts visually and with part specific check fixtures to verify conformance to specifications. Follow reporting and recordkeeping procedures, and report problems to supervisor.

- Record production status information including piece count as well as keep records of approved and defective units or final products.

- Ensure the interminable and efficient running of production while following proper procedures for machine operation.

- When required complete packaging tasks such as box assembly, packing, and taping.

- Make every effort to increase productivity and efficiency without compromising quality and work cooperatively with the production team to meet quotas and goals.

- Report any machinery issues to management.

- Attend all safety and production trainings.

- Support customer needs by working overtime as needed.

- Maintain a clean and safe work area and report safety concerns to management.

- Comply with all safety and health regulations.

- Demonstrate a positive and professional attitude.

- Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION OR EXPERIENCE

High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to other employees of the organization.

MATHEMATIC SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
