Program Manager Job at Missouri Center for Public Health Excellence

Missouri Center for Public Health Excellence Missouri

Our Organization

The Missouri Center for Public Health (MOCPHE) is a non-profit public health professional association of over 30 local public health agency leaders, educational partners, and service providers. We are dedicated to improving the public health system in Missouri and accomplish that through supporting our membership’s needs and our on-going efforts to develop a state-wide public health institute.

MOCPHE is a provisional member of the National Network of Public Health Institutes (NNPHI) and embarked on this new strategic direction in early 2022. As a result, MOCPHE is rapidly building our infrastructure, engaging stakeholders (local, state, and national) as we build.

As a result, our environment is ever-changing and rarely are two days in a week the same; we are actively building additional infrastructure and expanding rapidly. We recently opened our first permanent office in St. Louis and continue to develop that space with a vision for additional future offices throughout the state.

We are committed to supporting our employees and want to be honest about the fact that the pace, approach to our work, and our general workplace culture may not be a good fit for everyone. We are currently a small team (under 10 people) and work closely together on nearly everything we are responsible for. If you are comfortable with rapid change, short deadlines, managing competing priorities, engaging in a wide range of public health topics, then you may enjoy working for MOCPHE.

Primary Purpose

We are seeking a highly organized professional team member to join our existing team responsible for technical assistance. This position will be responsible for contributing to and conducting project management for existing and future technical assistance contracts; additionally, this team regularly engages in activities to develop a public health institute. Candidates for this position must reside in Missouri.

Much of MOCPHE’s technical assistance is currently focused on Community Health Assessments (CHA), Community Health Improvement Plans (CHIP), Public Health Accreditation (PHAB), emergency preparedness, and training for governmental public health staff. This role will regularly be working with one county on these activities, will be solely responsible for making these deliverables within the stated timelines, and will likely support other technical assistance in the future. This includes managing project timelines, meeting contract deliverables, and exceeding partner expectations. Additionally, this position will be responsible for managing the monthly meeting of the MOCPHE PHAB Learning Collaborative.

MOCPHE is open to individuals with varied skill sets and is also interested in investing in a professional who may want to grow with the organization.

This position reports directly to the Deputy Director and will also work closely with the rest of the leadership team at MOCPHE, including staff responsible for the delivery of technical assistance.

Ideal candidates for this position are self-starters, comfortable in chaos, and fierce advocates for public health. As mentioned above, our operations are not those of a traditional workplace. We strive to be flexible and supportive while maintaining a high level of customer service for our clients, members, and other partners.
