Introduction

Maryland voters approved a referendum to legalize adult-use cannabis in the State effective July 1, 2023. This position will be a part of the State’s regulatory body for both medical and adult-use cannabis.

LOCATION OF POSITION

MDH, Maryland Medical Cannabis Commission, Linthicum, MD

Main Purpose of Job

Under the direction of the Chief Communications Officer, this position manages the development and implementation of the Commission’s digital and social media strategies, including all social media and web-based presence. The position serves as the strategic, multi-platform day-to-day content developer to educate stakeholders on cannabis laws and regulations, the Commission’s initiatives, and responsible cannabis use. The position will also work closely with the Office of Social Equity to develop a comprehensive public outreach plan promoting cannabis licensing opportunities in the State and enhance public engagement and outreach to targeted audiences such as prospective equity program participants, patients and consumers, cannabis businesses, public health and safety stakeholders, researchers, and more.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in communications, marketing, or a health-related field.

Five years of progressively responsible experience in communications and social media and digital media.

DESIRED OR PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Ability to leverage multiple social media and campaign platforms and tools to achieve success;

Ability to plan, design, deploy, and/or direct the creation of day-to-day social media, public relations, and/or campaign content;

Experience developing and executing social media, marketing, public relations, and/or campaign strategies;

Experience authentically engaging stakeholders and leveraging feedback for continuous improvement;

Highly organized; ability to manage multiple projects at once and meet deadlines;

Ability to effectively prepare, compose, edit and present reports and presentations, visual materials, and other promotional information;

Ability to communicate clearly and effectively both orally and in writing through the presentation of concise yet comprehensive training, analysis, and reports.
