What are we looking for in our next new hire?

Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in Healthcare, Business, Computer Science, Statistics or other related field, and 5 or more years of project, business analysis, or charge master experience working with complex workflows, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience interacting with customers to gather and understand their business and technical requirements, and demonstrated ability to apply this knowledge to the effective implementation of systems. Strong project and process analysis skills; must have competency, tact, diplomacy and communication skills necessary to interact with peers, department personnel, administration and physicians both internal and external to patient accounting on a professional level. EPIC certification in applicable track required, or completion of applicable track certification within six (6) months of employment in position.


Preferences: Previous experience in clinical operations and complex workflows, charge capture, coding/compliance, healthcare finance and advanced Microsoft office knowledge.


What will you do?
Provide analytical and project support by gathering, analyzing and presenting data from a variety of sources to assist leadership in the review of coding and revenue cycle operations. Work collaboratively with cross-functional teams as needed (specifically, Operations, Revenue Cycle, Compliance and IT teams) to analyze resource needs and constraints, report project status, identify and analyze issues and risks, and deliver communication to project stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
  • Using EPIC certification, acts as a builder in the system to ensure Revenue Integrity for all clinical applications including community connect sites.
  • Performs analyses which support revenue cycle projects, including implementations, upgrades, and process improvements. Assists Manager in developing and building necessary rules and functionality for project implementation.
  • Performs build testing in applicable EPIC environments using in-depth technical expertise.
  • Participates in the design, specification, development, implementation, testing, validation and documentation of clinical and revenue cycle systems and services. Prepares reports, reviews and analyzes.
  • Creates and participates in active formal and informal communication on behalf of OSUP with other internal and external entities.
  • Acts as an EPIC certified resource with clinical, coding, compliance and revenue cycle knowledge to coordinate changes, operational requirements and system upgrades.
  • In collaboration with Coding, Compliance, Revenue Cycle, various IT and Build/Project teams and management, develops and delivers educational programs that promote quality documentation in the medical record supporting quality coding, high quality patient care, operations, research and reimbursement.
  • Works closely with clinical and revenue cycle build teams and end users to identify optimization opportunities.
  • Assist coding, compliance, clinical & IT Teams with development of charge router and charge review edits to promote charge integrity.
  • Review annual CPT coding updates to ensure all charge capture preference lists are accurate and built in testing and PRD environments
  • Conducts end-user training needs (as assigned) to ensure Revenue Integrity for all clinical applications.
  • Reviews, updates and publicizes documentation to ensure understanding of the clinical functionality as related to revenue integrity. May also lead one-on-one training initiatives for providers. Develops workflow tools as needed.
  • Coordinates interaction and requirements between revenue cycle entities, information systems, finance and clinical departments in support of revenue integrity initiatives.
  • Triage a variety of user questions, requests, business needs and various analytical services
  • Monitor individual requests for assistance through Task Management Process (currently eServices)
  • Works with Manager to conduct periodic assessments (as assigned) of the revenue cycle integrity and clinical operations that impact electronic charge capture; makes recommendations for system and process improvements, and may act as a facilitator for those changes in the revenue integrity process.
