You'll invest the majority of your time in these key areas:

  • Assist with the preparation of the capital yearly budget. Prepare and manage the adequate implementation of engineering projects. Update and control the spending track file for each specific project and assure the budget is respected. Design projects related to vegetable processing and packaging, including improvement of existing equipment and installation of new machinery.
  • Control the day-to-day tasks done by contractors working on projects under his direct responsibility. Verify that appropriate work orders and sign-off sheets for each contractor are in order and available for control and validation
  • Apply the principles of mass balance and perform line time studies to plant processes to assure the KPI (Key Performance Indicators) are aligned to the targets, including gathering samples from the process, measuring, and analyzing data using electronic tools.
  • Suggest technical and operational improvements related to the mass balance and line time study analyses
  • Analyze data from quality control department to identify improvement opportunities
  • Write standard operating procedures and visual work instructions related to new projects and operational improvements.
  • Give support to Production Supervisors and Production Manager with the creation and update of the SOPs for better process control.
  • Assist improvements for the database that already exists. Create KPIs and improve process control reports.
  • Lead the blanching studies for each crop to validate thermal processing
  • Lead the cob saw and corn cutter studies to measure performance and increase the recovery and productivity.
  • Responsible for the health & safety management system to achieve established goals and provide a safe, efficient environment for all employees.

You will bring the following to the business:

  • Six sigma or other lean manufacturing experience.
  • Project management and Process control experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with a concentration in industrial, mechanical, food processing, or chemical engineering
