Project Build Leads at Classic Designs primary responsibility will be to lead the team of Automation technicians in the fabrication, wiring and assembly work relating to automation. They will have exceptional people skills and provide technical expertise, guidance, and direction to the Automation technicians.

What would a typical day look like?

  • Contribute to a variety of automation projects including but not limited to body-white robotic welding and assembly equipment
  • Oversee Automation Technicians and Contractors, providing direction, mentorship, and guidance both at Classic and at customer site. Including obtaining and releasing contract resources and working with HR to meet new hire goals.
  • Manage projects from receipt of materials thru sub-assembly to FAT stage at Classic to SAT and sign off at customer site(s)
  • Participate in leadership development activities in order to accelerate your skillsets
  • Mentor, evaluate and coach team members starting with direct reports
  • Balance workload assignments to ensure targets are met and employees are engaged with appropriate work levels
  • Resource scheduling to ensure resources are meeting their targets and customers are being serviced
  • Provide input into engineering and project management to increase ease of build, functionality and maintenance
  • Contribute to the overall design of fixtures, tooling, end effectors and cell layouts in a collaborative environment
  • Complete all mechanical assembly wiring and piping of machine components and perform onsite troubleshooting and adjustment and service work for Classic’s automation systems and coordinating these efforts with the project management, controls and robotics teams to meet timeline milestones.
  • Provide input into appropriate solutions relating to rework items and offer cost reduction improvements suggestions around the company’s internal standards
  • Direct reports; shipping and receiving, warehousing, trades team leaders, fab and machine, quality control

What qualifies you for this opportunity?

  • 4+ years of experience in machine building
  • 2+ years of plant management
  • A working understanding of PLCs, HMIs and robot programming
  • Proficiency in assembly and/or wiring of machine components
  • A working understanding of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic design and troubleshooting of pneumatic and electro-mechanical devices
  • A proficient understanding of the complete project life cycle from the quoting phase thru buyoff and the customers facility (S.A.T.)
  • Licensed electrician with mechanical skills or a licensed millwright with electrical knowledge is an asset
  • Project management experience is an asset
