GENERAL OVERVIEW

  • The Project Manager is responsible for managing numerous projects, providing leadership to construction teams, while ensuring adherence to schedule, budget, and quality.
  • Bachelor’s degree – Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or another related field
  • Experience with K-12 construction, vertical construction, public capital programs preferred
  • Must currently be located in South Florida and be familiar with local building codes

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: Ensures assigned project abides by Broward County Public Schools standards, policies and guidelines.

  • Oversees the assigned projects.
  • Ensures roof scoping walkthroughs are completed timely and coordinated with the roofing committee.
  • Ensure roofing binders are received from roofing subcontractors within 45 days of Notice to Proceed (NTP); PMs required to coordinate review of the roofing binder with the roofing committee.
  • Under the leadership of the assigned team leader, performs design and constructability reviews in conjunction with the Preconstruction Manager
  • Manages design consultants during construction administration.
  • Manages the procurement process from LOR to NTP. Ensure that bid documents uploaded into e-Builder for solicitation(s) are accurate and biddable.
  • Manage construction contracts and ensure monthly schedule updates are accurate and reflect the current status of work.
  • Uses e-Builder as the communications tool. All reporting must be entered into that Project Management Information System (PMIS).
  • Ensures all PCOs, Cos, etc. are coordinated with the cost control/budget manager. Works with this position to evaluate and provide recommendations. Participates in Change Order Review Panel (CORP) and achieve approval of COs at the first submission to CORP.
  • Participates in and chairs, as needed, regularly scheduled design and construction progress meetings.
  • Facilitates resolution of technical and contractual issues of assigned projects.
  • Reviews contractor Requests for Information (RFI) and makes recommendations as needed.
  • Conducts site visits and prepares observation reports.
  • Monitors actual project scope, budgets, schedules and quality vs. established benchmarks and promptly reports any deviations to the team leader.
  • Ensure timely submissions of vendor evaluations following SOP
  • Manages any required corrective action to scope, budgets, schedules and quality.
  • Facilitates phasing and operations meetings.
  • Manages the administrative support staff assigned.
  • Establish project priorities.
  • Coordinates with construction coordinators and administrators.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Any combination of training, education, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform this position’s duties, such as:

  • Bachelor’s degree – Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or another related field
  • 10 years minimum experience managing vertical construction projects or related public works capital projects
  • Professional licenses/certificates: Florida registration as a Professional Engineer desirable
  • Experience with K-12 construction preferred
  • Must currently be located in South Florida and be familiar with local building codes

  • Accurate project costs and forecasts

  • Accuracy in monitoring, controlling, validation, and variance of scope.
  • Change Management
  • Working with Budget Manager to review, validation and process of PCOs and COs
  • Submitting COs to CORP and receive approval first pass
  • Risk Management
  • Working with the assigned Construction Coordinator, timely risk monitoring, mitigation and reporting into the e-Builder system

Pay: $100,000.00 - $130,000.00 per year
