SUMMARY:
Responsible for the assignment and handling of complex multi-line or discipline-specific insurance claims which include: coverage analysis, investigation, evaluation, negotiation, settlement, salvage, and subrogation. Adjudicates claims within assigned settlement authority and adheres to applicable laws, regulations, and company guidelines.

This position will be responsible for servicing the Northeast Regions of Missouri, including Adair-Schuyler County, Audrain County, Chariton County, Clark County, Howard County, Knox County, Lewis County, Linn County, Macon County, Marion County, Monroe County, Pike County, Putnam County, Ralls County, Randolph County, Scotland County, Shelby County, Sullivan County

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Investigate, document, and evaluate factual evidence to determine coverage under a specific policy of insurance.
  • Investigate and evaluate the evidence and determine the amount of damages claimed with specific details regarding property involved.
  • Determine if loss is covered on first party property claims.
  • Determine the liability on third party claims with emphasis on duty to protect financial interest of insured.
  • Close or dispose of claim by accepting, declining, or settling, within authority.
  • Submit prompt and concise reports containing all information and evidence developed in the investigation.
  • Periodic review and report on all open claims to the Regional Claims Supervisor including reviews on all problem claims.
  • Work with company attorney in preparing claims for litigation and negotiating with plaintiffs' attorney.
  • Submit monthly reviews on all claims of subrogation status
  • Submit quarterly review on all claim reserves on open files.
  • Be on call for field work in conjunction with catastrophe losses.
  • Handle adjustments of claims for other Farm Bureau Companies.
  • Assist in investigations of major nature statewide.
  • Negotiate claims of major nature with attorneys
  • Assist counties and field staff in promoting Farm Bureau programs.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor's Degree required, except that additional related work experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis for the formal education requirement.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bilingual (Spanish) capabilities is an asset but not required.
  • Ability to manage time and to work independently.
  • Ability to seek and compile information, and to exercise good judgment, based on such information.
  • Ability to gain, or have knowledge of, property, farm equipment, damage appraisals and repairs.
  • Ability to establish and maintain a good working relationships with others.
  • Must be available for occasional overnight travel.
  • Must have an outgoing and enthusiastic personality.
  • Must have good organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.
