Klickitat Valley health is looking for a full-time Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner to be a part of our Behavioral Health Services team.

Klickitat Valley Health is a rural, critical-access hospital located in scenic Goldendale, Washington only two hours from Portland along the breathtaking Columbia River Gorge. KVH offers emergency and acute inpatient care and a full scope of ancillary services including General Surgery, Diagnostic Imaging, Laboratory, Respiratory Therapy, PT / OT, Behavioral Health, Dental, Pain Management and Hospice. The hospital also owns a busy, well-established primary clinic that is located on hospital campus. Inpatient care is managed by 24/7 Hospitalist staff. KVH employs over 300 staff.
General Summary:
The Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) completes initial psychiatric evaluations, medication management, and consultation and liaison services within the PMHNP scope of practice.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education, Training & Experience (includes licenses or certifications):

Education / Licensure: *

  • Advanced nursing degree from an accredited school, continuing education credits as required to maintain licensure.
  • Current license as a Registered Nurse and Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) with prescriptive authority in Washington State (Adult and/or Child/Adolescent), DEA Certification for Scheduled I-V Drugs. Eligible for credentialing with Klickitat Valley Health and various insurance panels.
  • Current BLS certifications required.

Experience: *

  • At least one (1) year recent experience in treating a wide variety of psychiatric conditions.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS / RESPONSIBILITIES (but not limited to):
Job Responsibilities:

  • Conducts and completes Initial Psychiatric Evaluations Including diagnostic formulation, clinical risk assessment and treatment recommendations.
  • Prescribes and reviews medication of assigned individuals. Regularly monitors side effects of prescribed medications. Provides individuals with information necessary to make informed consent.
  • Orders and monitors laboratory studies, metabolic parameters and other tests needed to safely monitor individuals ongoing psychiatric health.
  • Consults and collaborates as available with Primary Care Providers and other specialist for management psychiatric issues for patients seen at Family Medicine and Klickitat Valley Hospital.
  • Coordinates with individuals’ pharmacies, caregivers, case managers and therapists to ensure continuity of care. Works in a collegial manner with all clinical staff and Klickitat Valley Health.
  • Participates in Performance Improvement process to address and resolve issues impacting quality.
  • Maintains state and federal standards of confidentiality and documentation. Provides through documentation using Meditech electronic based medical records.
  • Maintains professional licensures and credentials.
  • Participates in professional organizations to further education, professional growth and networking.
  • Provides in-service trainings for staff as available.
  • Performs administrative tasks according to agency needs as pertains to this position.
  • Maintains high standards of professional conduct in relation to consumers, staff and other community professionals.
  • Abides by agency/hospital policies and procedures.

  • Follows all Klickitat Valley Health District policies and procedures.
  • Attends Mandatory Klickitat Valley Health District sponsored in-service and education programs annually.
  • Adheres to the Klickitat Valley Health Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance program.
  • Reviews data/information such as: vital signs, height and weight measurements, etc. obtained from the patient as part of the clinic visit.
  • Completes patient program and billing records in a timely manner and in accordance with all applicable standards, regulations, or requirements that may be set forth by contract. Orders/performs laboratory procedures and interprets lab test results for the patient.
  • Accurately records patient information and clinical data (chief complaint, symptoms, medical condition, history, allergies, immunizations, etc.) in the electronic medical record (EMR) to maintain the paperless charting system of the clinic.

Performs other duties as assigned.
