Public Health - Telecommute within the US - This is an ongoing temporary position.

The Public Health Engagement Specialist will have experience and confidence in communication planning, grant management and stakeholder engagement. This position is temporary, and grant-funded through November 2027. The position is available for remote/telework. The workday is based on the Central Time Zone. The Public Health Engagement Specialist will report to the Public Health Strategist/Local Public Health Liaison and work to:

  • Identify opportunities to educate policy makers and external stakeholders about public health and workforce needs.
  • Identify opportunities to modify internal policies that might hinder workforce development practices; strengthen policies and determine solutions to workforce issues.
  • Work with the Community Engagement Unit and LPHUs to do an analysis of current outreach plans and develop best practices for collaboration, education and engagement.
  • Collaborate with the Enteric and Foodborne Disease Coordinator to improve public education and outreach, reducing the risk of infectious diseases.
  • Develop policies/procedures templates that include an equity lens in outreach that can be implemented across programs.
  • Participate as an active member of the Quality Improvement Committee.
  • Assist with quarterly quality improvement reviews.
  • Assist with accreditation work for the Public Health Division.
  • Serve as point of contact for assigned grants for management, including working with the fiscal team for monitoring expenditures, tracking results and creating reports.
  • Organize and host stakeholder meetings, as needed to meet objectives.
  • Track and report activities as they align with the grant funding of this position.
  • Some evening and weekend work may be required, this will be discussed with the supervisor in advance.
  • Assist the Public Health Strategist/Local Public Health Liaison with other duties as assigned.

To thrive in this position you should demonstrate experience with engaging stakeholders, project management, developing education and outreach plans, and grant management. Have strong written and oral communication skills. Prior experience working remotely. Experience working with office 365 products (Share Point, Teams, Outlook, PowerPoint and Excel).

To be considered for this position you are required to have a Bachelor’s degree plus relevant professional experience, OR five years of full-time experience in an equivalent role.
