Help develop a new generation of health care and public health leaders! This is an exciting opportunity to expand your expertise while establishing new partnerships and best practices to aid in response to the nation’s public health needs. We are currently seeking members to serve with the FACES for the Future Coalition (facesforthefuture.org). FACES for the Future was created in 2000, in direct response to youth who expressed a need for health career exploration and mentorship. In response to the pandemic, FACES is implementing its Public Health Youth Corps, a program that diversifies the public health workforce by leveraging high school students in community to address public health concerns. Operations are primarily hybrid at high schools. Program locations San Francisco (hybrid; may travel between two school sites). As a member, you will work in partnership with the FACES employer partners and educators to implement the Public Health Youth Corps program. Members are also part of a statewide member learning community through The Center for Health Leadership and Practice at the Public Health Institute (PHI), the largest AmeriCorps VISTA sponsorship in the Western Region. This community includes ongoing support from VISTA Leads and a monthly series of professional development opportunities, workshops, networking events, and trainings.
Member Duties : AmeriCorps members will improve operational capacity and build a coordinated response to COVID-19 in local communities. Duties include activities such as: working with stakeholders to coordinate FACES program activities; • strengthening program partnerships and community outreach; • maintaining website and social media platforms; creating communication materials that support program activities; • acting as a consistent mentor and caring adult for FACES students;• scheduling, facilitating, and presenting workshops for students focused on professional development, college preparation, wellness and other pertinent topics; • creating a program database and/or data dashboard; • aggregating and evaluating data to enhance equitable services and programs; • supporting organizational logistics; • Travel: hybrid of remote work and on-site; may travel between multiple sites
