Job Description:

The Utilities Shift Supervisor is responsible for oversight of the Pulp & Utilities operations and rotating shift supervision of the Pulp & Utilities department operations’ crews.

Requirements/Qualifications: Utilities Shift Supervisor

• One to three (1-3) years’ experience in a pulp/utilities environment, paper mill, or comparable industry;
• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline; OR equivalent operational experience is required;
• Must exhibit strong people skills being able to handle confrontational situations
• Must demonstrate problem identification and solution implementation
• Must demonstrate the ability to handle multiple tasks and organize a group of people to accomplish those tasks
• Must have integrity, be self-motivated, and driven

Duties & Responsibilities: Utilities Shift Supervisor

• Responsible for the safety leadership and compliance for employees on shift and support for the department & mill; Make daily safety contact with each individual on shift
• Responsible for the environmental compliance of the department on an hour-by-hour basis; Must understand and comply with mill chemical safety precautions and know the hazards of each chemical utilized in the area
• Manage operations to provide internal customers with all bleached pulp requirements in a safe, environmentally compliant, and most cost-effective manner
• Provide direct supervision of hourly workforce assigned to work in the area
• Track & monitor attendance for hourly employees to insure adequate coverage of the operation
• Initiate and enforce all systems, policies, and procedures
• Maintain a working relationship with the union by following the terms of the collective bargaining agreement
• Train, counsel, and provide disciplinary action, as necessary, within provisions of formal agreements between management and employee bargaining groups
• Participate in production, safety, and other appropriate meetings
• Hold self, team members, and all in the facility accountable for their duties, behaviors, and actions
• Coordinate operations and maintenance activities, as well as daily communication with other shift supervisors and managers throughout the facility.
• Equipment responsibilities include supervising the operations of the following units: Woodyard, Digesters, Chemi-washer/Brown Stock, R8 Generator, Bleach Plant, Kiln, Recaust, Recovery Boiler, Turbines, and Incinerator.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $80,000.00 - $120,000.00 per year
