Position Title: Purchasing Specialist
Position Summary
Process and create purchase order requisitions, interpret supply and demand, analyze proposals and bids. Work with internal clients and external suppliers. Interface on a regular basis with plant managers, production schedulers and site personnel on material requirements.
Essential Job Functions
· Process & Create Purchase Orders in a timely and efficient manner.
· Analyze proposals and bids.
· Purchasing duties include procurement of bird food materials and may include fertilizer materials, chemicals, packaging, grass seed.
· Meet with suppliers and internal clients such as plant managers, production schedulers, marketing managers and product managers on material requirements and specifications.
· Proofreading of packaging copy
· Backup other purchasing department employees
· Other duties that may be assigned
Education/Certifications: Associates/Bachelors Degree or equivalent work experience
Experience/Minimum Requirements
· Three (3) years of related business or purchasing experience
Other Skills/Abilities
- Proficient in Excel & Microsoft Word
- Strong communication skills
- Strong organization and prioritization skills
- Fertilizer / Chemical experience a plus
- Packaging experience a plus
- Working knowledge of J.D.Edwards (MRP) a plus
- Proofreading experience a plus
- Excellent analytical and math skills
