We are seeking an organized and detail oriented individual to join our team as a Quality Analyst at the Moorhead Factory. The purpose of this position is to ensure compliance with FDA and Department of Agriculture regulations through internal audits, documentation review and third party audit participation. The incumbent provides process improvement data analysis of lab results and makes recommendations to factory management.


The principal accountabilities of this position include:

  • Conducts SQF internal food safety and quality audits and acts as a key participant in 3rd party audits.
  • Reviews lab and packaging/warehouse records for accuracy, trends and completeness of records.
  • Performs statistical data analysis for continuous improvements/corrective actions and compliance with food safety requirements.
  • Provides systematic document control for: HACCP, FQP and SQF; Document Control Register; Food/feed safety/quality records for packaging and warehouse; Audits, inspections and deviation reports.
  • Leads the Product Safety Team.
  • Maintains HACCP certification and SQF Practitioner status.
  • Key participant in the decision making process on disposition of out-of-specification product.
  • Provides auditing to ensure compliance with quality and lab policies and procedures.
  • Assists with product quality by conducting and evaluating various testing related to the production and finished product. Analyzes the test methods, frequency of tests, and redundancy.
  • Assists with implementation and compliance with food safety and food quality requirements.
  • Interprets and analyzes data, makes decisions and recommendations regarding the inspection reports and records.
  • Assists in the resolution of customer complaints, including the investigation, determining the root cause and corrective action.
  • Audits lab data entry into LIMS, ADC and ADC2.
  • Provides training in laboratory procedures and GMP requirements.

Minimum Requirements


This position requires a minimum of two years of general college science courses or equivalent food quality experience, although a four-year science or technical degree is preferred. Strong mathematical knowledge, including algebra and the use of statistics in continuous improvement including histograms, X R charts, pareto charts, etc. is important. Knowledge of the lab functions and packaging/warehousing activities is required as well as knowledge and experience in GMP (FDA), SQF and HACCP (must become HACCP certified and certified as SQF Practitioner). Solid interpersonal skills with both clear written and verbal communication abilities are necessary for interactions with United Sugars, Midwest Agri, Corporate Quality Assurance Manager and various packaging/warehousing staff. This position requires analytical skills and the ability to work precisely and accurately with various quality control information, test results and other types of reports. Strong computer skills, with experience and accuracy in the use of data in analyses is required with proficiency in excel and word and the use of other computerized systems such as LIMS/PIMS, SAP and ADC. Organizational skills, with the ability to retrieve various information and reports and the ability to make sound decisions and take corrective action within established guidelines.
