Job Title: Quality Technician
Reports To: Quality Manager

General Job Function:
The Quality Technician is responsible for supporting production by approving first-piece setups and required checks per the control plan.
Job Duties:
  • Assist with quality investigations of all internal and external non-conformances of any returns from our customers.
  • Approves incoming materials by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and rejecting and returning unacceptable materials.
  • Approves in-process production by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, and communicating required adjustments to the production supervisor.
  • Approves finished products by confirming specifications, conducting visual and measurement tests, returning products for re-work, and confirming re-work.
  • Document inspection results by completing reports and logs, summarizing re-work and waste, and inputting data into a quality database.
  • Keeps measurement equipment operating by following operating instructions; calling for repairs.
  • Maintains a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures; complying with legal regulations.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
  • Accomplishes quality and organization mission by completing related results as needed.
Working Conditions:
  • The Quality Technician is a safety-sensitive position working directly with machinery and equipment. Frequent exposure to a non-climate-controlled manufacturing environment where ambient air temperature can occasionally exceed outside air temperature.
  • Must be able to sit and view a computer screen for extended periods.
  • Must be able to bend at the waist and knees, walk and stand for extended periods.
  • Must be able to lift and move objects weighing up to 40 pounds when necessary.
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, crawl under or over, and frequently climb (stairs).
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • Must be flexible and able to change schedule and hours of work to meet the needs of the organization
Required Education, Experience & Skills:
  • 2-year associate's degree with 2-4 years of manufacturing and quality experience or equivalent education, training, and quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Must be computer literate and proficient with Windows and MS Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint).
  • Strong communication, both oral and written, and interpersonal skills; ability to build relationships at multiple levels to work cross-organizationally toward solutions
  • Ability to read and interpret technical instructions, including customer specifications and quality standards.
  • Ability to self-motivate, problem-solve, and work in a dynamic environment
  • Extreme attention to detail and the ability to think strategically
  • Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational and analytical skills.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide inches and pounds using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Hands-on knowledge and experience in roll forming and tooling are preferred.
  • Proficient in precision measuring tools and gages.
  • Excellent knowledge of SPC, GD &T., C&PA, Quality management systems, and ISO:9001
  • Root cause analysis and comprehensive customer 8D
  • Experience in operating a CMM or FARO arm, precision measuring equipment, and gauges.
