Chalk Hill Ranch is a private equestrian and horse boarding facility in the outskirts of Healdsburg in Sonoma County. For over 30 years, we have provided quality boarding and care for horses of all disciplines of riding. Chalk Hill Ranch is the only facility in this area that has direct access to over 200 acres of private horseback riding trails along with other amenities. The position as ranch manager for this facility would entail the following:

1) Manage the ranch by providing regular interactions with our clients (boarders), to make sure we are performing at the necessary standards of Chalk Hill Ranch and meeting their needs/requests.

2) Provide proper care of the 40+ horses at the ranch, which involves feeding, cleaning and frequent check-ups of the horses, including a nightly check-up.

3) Cleaning and feeding once a day (up to 2 hours/day), 5 days/week. Assisting ranchhand with second feeding, if time permits.

4) Communicate with ranch onwer on regular basis (with weekly meetings)

5) Keep track of board payments for monthly invoices and check in with bookkeeper weekly

6) Manage horses' medical and dental appointments by scheduling clinics, keeping records, etc.

7) Schedule and provide tours of ranch with potential boarders

8) Manage ranch hands and volunteers with work details/shift schedules

9) Coordinate and order supplies, hay, bedding, etc.

10) Facilitate social media platforms of the ranch and post ads for future boarders

11) On-call for emergencies (horse injuries, illnesses, etc.)

Schedule= Monday-Friday; weekends off unless an emergency/situation arises with horse(s)

The following is required for this position:

*Experience working with horses, having horse sense, and horse care knowledge and skills.

*Good communicator, in-person, via texts and emails, and on social media (remaining professional and prompt with responses)

*Managerial Experience

This position includes housing. The housing allowance is part of the wage listed. (Paychecks will not be that total.)
Sonoma County is known for its expensive housing, but this position provides a 2-bed, 1-bath house on-site at the ranch. A fenced backyard, and front-yard garden are included.

Up to two horses of your own can board here free of charge.
