Under direct supervision the Recreation Activities Supervisor is responsible for carrying out administrative office duties for the Community Council; coordinates community activities; maintains community building(s) and park grounds. Maintains confidentiality of all privileged information.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED and two years experience in leading or directing activities,

  • events, or programs of which included supervision; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid California or Nevada driver’s license or capable of obtaining one within thirty-days (30) of employment.

  • Must be able to be insurable by the Tribe’s Driving Policy.

  • Must be able to successfully pass a pre-employment drug/alcohol screen and background investigation.

  • Preference to Qualified Native American Indians will be given.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Plans, and implements recreation activities.

  • Monitors after school program activities.

  • Plans and implements community events and council meetings.

  • Responsible for all reports, calendars, and community notifications of planned events.

  • Oversees daily operations at the community center.

  • Ensures community center is operational for planned events daily.

  • Oversees the summer recreation program including directing activities, planning, budgeting, training youth staff, and implementing activities individually or in collaboration with other departments/communities.

  • Performs or delegates all maintenance duties including vehicle maintenance.

  • Ensures adequate building set up takes place for events.

  • Prepares monthly reports for review by the Community Council.

  • Assists in food preparation or serving for events.

  • Responsible for representing the community at board meetings, annual conferences, and other related meetings.

  • Performs other duties as required.

Knowledge, Abilities, Skills, and Certifications
  • Knowledge of modern office practices, procedures, and equipment.

  • Knowledge of business English, proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and basic arithmetic.

  • Knowledge of records management and basic accounting procedures.

  • Knowledge of modern office practices and procedures, principles and practices used in current management and administrative organizations.

  • Ability to establish and maintain record of community inventory, all administrative files and records to plan and operate a budget.

  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with Tribal officials, community residents, community officers, and the general public.

  • Ability to organize, coordinate, and evaluate a wide variety of youth activities, and community programs and events.

  • Physically able to perform any and all duties related to the repair of community buildings and/or park facilities.

  • Ability to communicate effectively in the English language both verbally and in writing.

  • Ability to establish and maintain professional relationships with individuals of varying social and cultural backgrounds and with co-workers at all levels.

  • Ability to represent the organization in a professional manner, building respect and confidence.

  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet deadlines.

  • Ability to carry out instructions furnished in verbal or written format.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

  • Ability to demonstrate excellence in everything, and continually seek improvement in results.

  • Skill in operating business computers and office machines, including in a Windows environment, specifically Word, Excel, Access, and presentation software (such as PowerPoint).

Physical Demands
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly is required to sit and stand; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to walk. The employee occasionally is required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
