The purpose of the HVAC/Refrigeration Technician position is to install, repair and troubleshoot refrigeration systems which includes but is not limited to reach in coolers & freezers and walk-in coolers & freezers. This position will also have limited responsibilities for HVAC and certain building maintenance tasks.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES (INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO)

  • Maintains club appearance to uncompromised levels of cleanliness through regular cleaning schedules.
  • Inspects buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repair making notes of such repairs.
  • Performs minor electrical maintenance to include but not limited to replacement or repair of fixtures(e.g., wall switches and outlets, light bulbs, ballasts, sockets, fuses, minor appliances, cords, etc.) using appropriate tools.
  • Performs minor plumbing maintenance (e.g., replacement or repair of leaks in drains and faucets, unclogging of drains, trenching, and laying new lines, replacing drain hoses on washers and similar devices, etc.)
  • Performs minor painting, carpentry, and masonry work (e.g., preparing surfaces and using brush, sprayer, or roller to apply paints, stains, and varnishes, hanging doors, fitting locks, and handles, etc.)
  • Reconfigures, installs, positions, and re-mounts office space and wall decorations (e.g., furniture, wall panels, work surfaces, storage bins, pictures, file cabinets, etc.) to accommodate staff and member needs requested by the club using appropriate tools.
  • Prepares the surfaces and paints various structures and equipment (e.g., walls, light poles, refrigerators, floors, roofs, doors, restroom facilities, etc.) to preserve wood and metal parts from corrosion and maintain a safe, comfortable working environment using appropriate tools.
  • Maintain required documents for Director of Facilities to maintain proper record keeping.
  • Performs other work-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND CHARACTERISTICS REQUIRED

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job with or without reasonable accommodations.

  • Any combination of education or experience equivalent to the graduation of high school or any other combination of education, training or experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform to the position standards. High school diploma preferred.
  • Previous work experience in facility maintenance or related field is required.
  • Experience with HVACR and refrigeration is required.
  • EPA 608 certified.
  • Basic understanding of electrical, plumbing and carpentry is a plus
  • Ability to read, write, speak, and understand English fluently.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to evaluate objectively, fairly, and consistently.
  • Ability to use common tools.
  • Ability to understand and follow directions as given.
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Use miscellaneous office equipment (e.g., calculators, computers, FAX machines, copiers, etc.)
  • Ability to work flexible hours.

PHYSICAL/MENTAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be able to push/pull up to 100 lbs.; Ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to endure long periods of standing, sitting, and walking.
  • Ability to work in extreme weather conditions.
  • Ability to distinguish between different colors for different maintenance tasks.
  • Good hearing and ability to distinguish different sounds.
  • Comfortable with performing work from tall heights.
  • Ability to bend at waist, sit, kneel, lay horizontally, and walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to climb ladders or stairs.
  • Ability to work in noisy environment.
  • Ability to work with lubricating fluids, cleaning solvents, batteries, etc.
  • Ability to work with paints, solvents and fluids typically used in custodial duties.
  • Electrical skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $23.00 - $24.00 per hour
