Position Summary:

The Refugee School Impact (RSI) Program Manager will provide management for the Afghan Support to Schools Initiative, including: professional development and technical assistance for grantees, monitoring, and reporting support. In addition, the RSI Program Manager will provide grantee and program supports for the Refugee School Impact Program. This position is made possible through contracts that are currently secured through June 2024. This position could be extended beyond that time if contracts are renewed.

Reports to: Refugee School Impact Program Director

Location: 625 Andover Park West, Tukwila, Washington. While most job duties can be performed in hybrid setting anywhere in Washington State, a portion of the job duties are required to be performed onsite at SOWA’s Tukwila office. In addition, occasional travel within Washington State may also be required.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

Afghan Support to Schools Initiative:

  • Serve as the project manager for the Afghan Support to Schools Initiative to support all aspects of the initiative, including managing the initiative timeline and activities;
  • Coordinate and support information sessions, grant orientation, professional development and training events for grantees;
  • Manage systems and lead efforts to collect required reporting paperwork and data from grantees;
  • Analyze data and summarize information from grantees’ reports;
  • Support in the preparation of reports for OSPI;
  • Support monitoring of grantees, including conducting site visits and preparing monitoring reports;
  • Provide technical assistance and resources to grantees;
  • Support the development of documents and materials for the initiative;
  • Serve as the point of contact for grantees and support all aspects of communications to grantees;
  • Develop project content and materials for initiative webpages and other related communications.

Refugee School Impact Program:

  • Support all aspects of the Request for Proposal process and the application review process, as needed;
  • Serve as the point of contact for inquiries about the application process and provide technical assistance to grant applicants;
  • Support contracting paperwork and processes for all subcontractors;
  • Support planning and implementation of grant orientations, grantee convenings, and professional development events for grantees, including outreach, logistics, material preparation and tracking systems;
  • Work with district-community partnerships and subcontractors to ensure timely submission of paperwork;
  • Assist with overall program data collection activities, including collecting, entering and summarizing student demographic and evaluation data from district-community partnerships;
  • Prepare check requests for payment to grantees upon receipt of required paperwork;
  • Coordinate the scheduling of monitoring site visits to district-community partnership sites;
  • Support data collection for monitoring reports;
  • Gather information about program needs and provide technical assistance to district-community partnerships as needed;
  • Research and disseminate best practices, culturally-relevant products, resources and materials for supporting refugee children and youth;
  • Develop and disseminate resources and tools to improve overall program;
  • Develop and update grant-related content and resources for website;
  • Coordinate special grant projects;
  • Maintain filing systems and performs record-keeping duties.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Support special projects as assigned;
  • Participate in staff and project meetings;
  • Serve as an ambassador for the organization, formally and informally;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree preferred, in social service, public administration, education, child and youth development, recreation, or related field;
  • Three to five years of work experience in a related field, additional years may be substituted for higher education;
  • Knowledge of equity and social justice principles and practices;
  • Knowledge and/or lived experiences and connections to refugee and BIPOC communities;
  • Experience working with and communicating with culturally diverse populations, including those with limited English proficiency;
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills;
  • Demonstrated writing and editing skills;
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint;
  • Must be able to independently travel between work-related appointments;
  • Requires flexibility in time requirements/constraints; may require some early morning, evening, weekend meetings, including some statewide travel and limited overnight stays.

Hours and Employment Status:

40 hours per week, Monday-Friday. Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) Classification: Exempt.

Starting salary range: $58,985-$73,730, depends on experience.
