Come join our team – DeKalb County Health Department (located in Auburn, Indiana) plays an important role in protecting and promoting the health of our community and we have a great three- fold position – Nursing, Grants and Emergency Preparedness – for the right person!

Under the general direction of the Director of the Health Department, the qualified candidate provides a full range of professional nursing services necessary to implement the department's programs.

• Immunization promotion – assisting with vaccine clinics, adheres to program rules/regulations regarding storage, ordering and use of vaccines
• Nursing duties within the Health Department
• Will learn to assist with writing/budgeting grants
• Manages emergency preparedness grant deliverables and emergency plans
• Participates in preparedness grant meetings, trainings, drills
• Responds to County health emergencies
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Conducts home visits, deals with communicable diseases, TB testing and follow-up care
• Professional interaction with public
• Willing to learn laws, accepted principles and practices of public health nursing
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products, especially Excel
• Must be available to travel to training/seminars/conferences, sometimes overnight
• Other duties as assigned

Must be a licensed Registered Nurse approved for work in Indiana with a valid Driver’s License. Must complete Healthcare Provider CPR and TB Testing Certifications within two months of hire.

Must be willing to subject to background check and motor vehicle report.
