CAD Drafter


We are a world-class international consulting company looking for a consultant II to join our team. The CAD Drafter collaborates with design originators to resolve discrepancies between original drawings and final CAD designs. A Consultant II is a professional that uses computer-aided design systems to make technical drawings for manufacturing products and building structures. The CAD Drafter will fill out drawings with codes, methods, materials, and specifications and incorporates them with the input of architects, engineers, and surveyors.


Job Responsibilities:


CAD Drafter Responsibilities

  • Uses CAD software to create detailed drawings that include dimensions, procedures, and required materials. He/she also uses views and angles to show the association between systems and components, often consulting co-workers regarding design and layouts.
  • Coordinates the collection of data and incorporates such information into drawings, maps, and schematics, while consulting with engineers, architects, surveyors, and other trades involved to prepare and present their drawings.
  • Takes care of complex drafting and designing assignments with little to no supervision and reviews drawings for accuracy and completeness.
  • Creates drawings and models from verbal and written specifications obtained from the telecom designers, developing 3D models by analyzing 2D drawings and prototypes. Reviews engineering drawings to ensure they comply with cited specifications and standards.
  • Collects reports, analyze codes, and makes calculations for the materials that are going to be used.
  • Works closely with engineers, designers, and other drafters to ensure the maintenance of coordination design efforts. Completes project responsibilities within scope, schedule, and budget.
  • Coordinates and collaborates with other professionals to understand design concepts and establish requirements.
  • Clarifies discrepancies and revises design to produce a more accurate and thorough design set.
  • In some cases, participation in project conference calls and meetings will be required.
  • Complete project responsibilities within scope, budget, and schedule.
  • Assigned to training and help develop junior drafters within the company

Technical Responsibility

  • Develop new construction drawings and revise existing construction drawings
  • Proficiency in current BIM programs and working experience in ArchiCAD or Revit
  • Prepare detailed drawings working from a template or past drawings
  • Keep track and update the templates folder
  • Review and collaborate with markups
  • Follow company standards
  • Read and interpret engineering drawings, construction drawings, and other technical information
  • Aware of project scope to ensure on-time project delivery, quality, and budget.
  • Update and maintain all revisions of the project drawing

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work


This is a full-time position. The consultant II standard work week but may be required to work evenings and weekends to deliver urgent client deliverables. With the continued impact of Covid-19 and social distancing measures, we fully support remote work until COVID-19 mandates are lifted.


Travel

Experience and Education

  • Previous work experience as a CAD drafter
  • 2-year associate degree or a certificate from a technical or community college preferred
  • Experience in Low Voltage and IT Systems preferred
  • Experience with BIM software

Required Technical Knowledge

  • Advanced knowledge of Mathematics, Science, Engineering, and Architecture
  • AutoCAD's latest version preferred
  • Revit experience preferred
