Cleaning Specialist

Job Title: Cleaning Specialist

Status: Hourly: Full Time____ Part Time_____

Department: Mental Health Services

Scope of Service: The cleaning specialist works with the residential team supporting participants to maintain a safe and sanitary living environment. Performs interior household tasks including but not limited to: Cleaning and sanitizing common areas, bathrooms and toilets, showers and sinks; scrubbing and sanitizing all kitchen fixtures and appliances; dusting ceilings, light fixtures, picture frames, tables, and chairs; vacuuming and mopping all types of flooring; moving and cleaning behind furniture; emptying and sanitizing waste baskets. Physical position requiring stamina to lift 35 lbs., frequent use of stairs, bend or kneel, and ability remain standing for long periods of time. Vehicle required to travel to agency locations. Must be able to perform duties as assigned

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Client Care:

· Establishes rapport and positive working relationships with clients while maintaining professional ethics and boundaries.

· Greets clients with and maintains positive attitude. Engages with and encourages clienst to participate in cleaning, wherever possible

· Professionally clean residential homes using Continuum’s cleaning checklist, cleaning procedures, and approved products

· Performs interior cleaning including but not limited to:

o Cleaning and sanitizing common areas, bathrooms and toilets, showers and sinks; scrubbing and sanitizing all kitchen fixtures and appliances; dusting ceilings, light fixtures, picture frames, tables, and chairs; vacuuming and mopping all types of flooring; Empties wastebaskets, and empties and cleans ashtrays.

· Rearranges and cleans behind and under furnishings, cleans blinds, drapes, and room accessories.

· Ensures necessary linens and bedding is provided and sanitary. Reports concerns as identified.

· Ensure exterior porches are clean and free of debris, including cigarette butts.

· Reports any damage, hazards, or repairs needed.

· Cleans all corridors and hallways.

· Respond to any projects or requests developed by the Continuum leadership team.

· Replaces light bulbs (if necessary).

· Restock supplies at end of shift and organize supply closet to prepare for the next day.

· Other housekeeping duties as assigned.

· Attends and participates in monthly staff meetings, clinical rounds, All-Treater meetings and supervision.

Environmental Responsibilities:

· Maintains a clean, well-organized work environment including general office maintenance and vehicle inspections.

· Ensures that all egresses and walkways are clear to support workplace safety.

· Participates in property up-keep and sanitation of medication areas, common areas, kitchens, bathrooms, etc. as applicable to program site.

· Notifies supervisor of any maintenance and/or safety issues and generates work orders as needed.

· Conducts and participates in fire and emergency evacuation drills, and reviews the emergency preparedness plan as outlined in agency policy.

· In order to maintain the security and safety of the clients and facility, staff is required to remain awake during all shifts.

· Completes other designated environmental tasks as assigned.

Quality Assurance:

· Adheres to policies and practices as outlined in the staff handbook and program operations manual.

· Consistently works in a respectful, constructive, and cooperative manner.

· Upholds all Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) regulations and secures all necessary releases of information for outside communication.

· Models culturally competent behavior interacting with clients, providers, and fellow staff.

· Maintains accurate electronic records and case files as assigned and in accordance with programming, contractual, licensing, and accreditation requirements.

· Adheres to the standards of the Council on the Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

· Participates in agency committee work when available or as permitted.

· Completes all trainings as required per program contract and agency policy.

· Attends agency sponsored in-services, outside trainings, conferences and meetings to facilitate continued professional growth and ensure the quality of case management practices.

QUALIFICATIONS

· High School Diploma or equivalent considered with at least 2-years’ experience working in professional cleaning.

· Experience working in a hospital, nursing care, or other residential setting preferred.

· Prior experience working with people with severe and persistent mental illness, intellectual disabilities, and/or addiction.

· Physical position with ability to lift 35lbs, aability to perform repetitive tasks which include cleaning, use of stairs, throughout shift to visit multiple apartments, as needed

· Knowledge of the community support system and resources preferred.

· Valid Connecticut Driver’s license with clean driving record and insured reliable transportation.

· First Aid/CPR certification or willingness to obtain certification within 90 days of hire. Employee is responsible to maintain ongoing certification.

· Proficient computer skills required, including Microsoft Office and electronic record keeping.

Monday - Friday 10 am to 6pm with some evening hours based on programs needs

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $18.50 per hour
