GENERAL SUMMARY

The Education Coordinator is responsible for the design, coordination, delivery and evaluation of clinical and non-clinical staff education and development. Education and development programs are based on staff needs analysis. Ensures employees acquire the appropriate skills to perform their duties and are provided opportunities to increase their competence. The position is required to consult with professionals to ensure leading edge practices and to collaborate with staff throughout the organization to plan and implement training needs.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Conducts training needs assessments, then researches and develops education training programs.

Plans, designs, organizes, prepares and delivers professional development programs to address a wide variety of needs for staff, from providers to management and supervisory staff to front line staff.

Plans, designs, organizes, prepares and delivers orientation-related programs to address a wide variety of needs for management and staff.

Facilitate learner development and socialization using current evidence-based adult learning principles for multigenerational and diverse cultural environments.

Purchases, develops, and/or works with marketing department to develop training and educational materials

Administers education training programs by conducting training sessions (e.g., workshops, group presentations, one-on-one training, etc.) and/or selecting outside individuals to present programs.

Supports the organization’s training initiative by working with management to provide strategic direction regarding training, developing/updating policies and procedures which support training, establishing training schedules, and keeping HR Administrator informed of the progress of training initiatives.

Determines training requirements not able to be met within the organization, researches external trainers/consultants, develops contracts for services, and coordinates enrollment.

Develops training materials by researching training content, communicating with other trainers, composing and requisitioning presentations, outlines, and teaching tools to be used during training and to be made available to staff, other trainers, and other agencies as needed in order to meet their training needs and interests.

Prepares for training classes with equipment, materials, setting up facilities, identifying speakers, and scheduling trainees and speakers to provide a functional and effective training and learning environment.

Coordinates events including securing the location, planning staff to work the event, arranging food and other services, maintaining guest list, attending event to trouble shoot, and conducting debriefing sessions after the event to improve future events.

Proactively works with leaders to help with matters such as department effectiveness, organizational effectiveness, improvement and development.

Evaluates the effectiveness of training programs by developing, administering, and reviewing training evaluations and post tests and receiving feedback from staff and revises training programs to ensure that the training provided is effective. Training outcome reporting to include Orientation and training evaluation summaries.

Maintains training documentation and databases, monitors effectiveness of training programs, and writes reports.

Makes travel accommodations and coordinates the travel reimbursement process.

Position Requirements:
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Required: Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required. Minimum of five years clinical experience. Minimum of three years training experience with adult learners in nursing or the healthcare industry. Must have a comprehensive working knowledge of healthcare standards based upon The Joint Commission, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS), and OSHA, as well as the Alabama Board of Nursing “Nurse Practice Act and Administrative Code”. Creative and proficient in MS Word, Power Point, Excel Spreadsheets, E-mail and Internet applications. A high level of accuracy in written, documented, and other methods of communication is critical to the success of this position. An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience would be considered to acquire the competencies listed within this job description.

Preferred: Hands-on experience working with an Alabama Board of Nursing Provider of Continuing Education desired. Other preferred experience includes: hands-on experiences with online learning systems and authoring programs; and working with electronic files and network drives. Master’s Degree in Nursing or other Healthcare-Related field preferred. Certification in Nursing Professional Development from the American Nurses Credentialing Center desired.

LICENSE, CERTIFICATION AND/OR REGISTRATION:

Required: A Registered Nurse with an active Alabama license to practice professional nursing. Current CPR certification required or must be obtained within the first 30 days of employment.

Preferred: BLS Instructor Level preferred.
