Purpose: To provide administrative support to the Safety Department. We have a current opening for a Safety Coordinator for our Campbell team!

West Valley Construction Company specializes in underground utilities. West Valley's corporate office is in Campbell, CA with operating facilities located in Campbell, Redwood City, Stockton, Concord, Hayward, Chico, Salinas, Bakersfield, Visalia, and Fresno. A satellite office is also located in Carson City, Nevada. The company has more than 500 employees in good standings, many of whom are represented by one of our four unions.


The following is a list of major duties and responsibilities for this position along with certain supportive duties. It is not all-inclusive. Other duties and responsibilities may be added as needed and in addition, management as appropriate, may modify this job description.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Administer the company's substance abuse, DOT, and CHP Pull programs.
  • Assist in administering the company's Injury Illness Prevention Program.
  • Maintain all safety files and records, complying with file maintenance, retention, and privacy requirements.
  • Ensure the maintenance of confidential records regarding employee medical and health information.
  • Provide appropriate safety, health , and environmental safety signs, posters, and other materials at all locations.
  • Maintain and order specialized safety equipment as needed.
  • Schedule meeting venues, and training resources as needed for various work groups.

Supportive Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate with the Payroll Manager to ensure that worker's compensation leaves are coordinated with FMLA/CFRA leaves as appropriate.

Education and Experience:

  • 4-year degree (preferred)
  • Minimum 2 years safety administration experience in construction related field.

Qualifications:

  • CA driver's license.
  • Excellent math skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Outstanding knowledge of safety, health, and environmental regulations, and construction industry orders.

Salary Range:

  • $30/hour - $42/hour

Physical Requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee spends a large portion of time working in the office on the computer and telephone. In addition, the position will require some travel to several different job sites up and down the state of CA. Vision abilities include close distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus in daylight, dawn, dusk, and nighttime conditions. This employee is exposed to a variety of weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, and may be exposed to airborne particles, and toxic or caustic chemicals.
