Overview:
On-Board Engineering is seeking (1) qualified Safety Coordinator (Occupational Health) to joint our site support team at a Chemical Manufacturing client's facility in Baton Rouge and/or Geismar, LA

Summary:
The Site Safety Coordinator formulates and directs policies to provide a safe and healthy atmosphere within the workplace and to comply with all federal, state, and local environmental and safety regulations.

Responsibilities:

• Manages and administers the Safety and Occupational Health Program.
• Manages Industrial Hygiene Program and monitoring of employee exposure to hazards.
• Responsible for all safety-related training, including that related to emergency preparedness, confined spaces, electrical safety, machine guarding, fall protection, and forklift safety, among others.
• Audits and ensures that the workplace satisfies health, safety and welfare requirements for ventilation, temperature, lighting, sanitary, washing and rest facilities.
• Establishes appropriate procedures to control the exposure to hazardous substances and danger from flammable, explosive, electrical, noise, and radiation risks.
• Performs routine safety inspections and serves as the primary contact for any insurance and government-related safety inspections.
• Maintains OSHA injury logs and completes OSHA required reports.
• Manages safety surveys, evaluations, audits, and accident investigation/reporting.
• Maintains Safety Data Sheets (SDS) on hazardous materials used in the workplace.
• Coordinates safety committee functions.
• Ensures adequate provision of first-aid, facilities, safety signs, relevant protective clothing, and personal protective equipment.
• Works closely with Human Resources Manager and EHS Manager on various projects, including New Hire Orientation, various training initiatives, and Workers Compensation issues.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s Degree (preferred) or equivalent.
• 3+ years of experience in Health& Safety, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
• Strong computer skills, preferably including Microsoft Office.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work and meet deadlines.
