Northern Lights, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of industry-best marine systems, including Northern Lights Marine Generator sets and Technicold Air Conditioning. Our systems are widely customizable to enhance the boating experience in pleasure craft, yacht and commercial marine applications.
Position Overview:
Responsible for outside product sales activities, parts and service sales for all existing and potential Northern Lights, Inc. (NLI) customers, focusing on Commercial Marine Operators, and Industrial Generator Set Operators. Work involves using creativity, initiative and working well with customers. Responsible to grow NLI and obtain market penetration in the Gulf Coast Region and Inland Waterways.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Promotes products offered by NLI to all existing and potential customers.
- Promotes parts, service sales and support to existing and potential customers.
- Completes all required paperwork in a neat and timely manner.
- Follows all policies set forth by Northern Lights, Inc.
- Presents self well as a professional representative of Northern Lights, Inc.
- Provide two new customer contacts per week minimum.
- Meet established sales goals.
- Offer technical assistance to customers and staff; provide training as needed.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Provides historical records by maintaining records on area and customer sales.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing established sales goals.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Minimum 5 years previous experience as a Commercial Engine and Generator Sales Representative.
- Highly developed verbal and written communication skills.
- High level of interpersonal skills to work effectively with others.
- Ability to meet sales goals.
- Ability to close and negotiate sales.
- Good prospecting skills.
Education & Experience:
- High school degree or equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
- Completion of recommended Company training programs.
Other Criteria:
- Complies with Company policies and procedures.
- Performs job safely with respect to others, to property and to individual safety.
- Works effectively with others in the Company to encourage teamwork and productivity.
- Must have & maintain a clean & valid driver’s license.
- Must be able to adhere to a regular work schedule and travel approximately 25%.
- We are drug free workplace that conducts pre-employment physical and drug screenings. We are regulated by the department of transportation and will be conducting random drug testing at regular intervals.

The employee is required to use hands to type, handle, or feel objects, tools and computer controls. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision. Individual performing this job will be required to travel via plane, car or other modes of transportation.
