Job Summary

Part-Time Scale Operator - Must be available for (2) 10 hour shifts (7 am-5 pm) Friday and Saturday. This position requires moderate computer proficiency, attention to detail and excellent customer service skills. Prior experience with customer service, data entry, and cash handling.

Essential Functions:

• Use scale and ticketing system to weigh incoming loads and charge customers appropriately.
• Identify hazardous, unauthorized, or unacceptable waste.
• Direct traffic to appropriate material zones in the landfill.
• Answer customer inquiries and provides information related to landfill operations and various types of waste.
• Provide instruction to customers on proper disposal of various waste materials.
• Set up accounts, post transactions, create notes.
• Perform accurate Audit daily transactions for accuracy.
• Create landfill passes.
• Account management.
• Responsible for cleanliness of office, restrooms, and walkway to scale house.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Knowledge of:

• Cash handling, including change-making and daily deposit.
• Customer service (in person, phone and email).

Skills and Abilities to:

• Operate PC, general office equipment, telephones, cameras, MS Outlook, CB Radio and scales.
• Work cooperatively, courteously, and positively with co-workers and the public.
• Maintain productivity and accuracy during high traffic conditions.
• Be excellent at handling multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Ability to learn new software programs quickly.
• Excellent time management skills.
• Maintain a clean, safe, organized work environment.
• Communicate and follow verbal and written instructions.
• Ability to work autonomously.

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements:

• Ability to lift and/or move 25 pounds or more.
• Minimal Exposure to solvents, chemicals, and refuse including sewage and human waste.
• Minimal risks associated with working around machinery, trucks, etc.
• Exposure to extreme weather, temperature, odors, nose or similar elements.
• Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting or standing for prolonged periods.
• Repetitive motion that may include wrists, hands and/or fingers.
• Talk or hear, both in person and telephone.

Qualifications:

• High School diploma or GED.
• Customer service: Minimum 1 year
• Cash handling: Minimum 1 year
• Computer skills: Minimum 1 year
• Ability to pass criminal background check
