Full responsibility under the superintendent, supervisor, or lead mechanic for efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of all seamers, capping machines, etc. Other duties include:
Primary Duties
- Adjust and set seamers and cappers to giver proper closure.
- Test seams by cutting - inspection and micrometer.
- Make or direct all running repairs.
- Order or list parts and install as required.
- Supervise changes of dies and inkjet coder in printing stamps.
- In off season, dismantle and overhaul seamers and cappers.
- Supervise changes of type in dies and codes for stamping code on lids and adjust dies and coder.
- Instruct seamer operators as to correct stamps to use.
- Direct oilers.
Secondary Duties
- May supervise seamer mechanics and/or operators.
- May inspect cans.
- May do or be in charge of mechanical work in Cookroom.
- Operate forklift in a safe manner.
