The Seasonal Guest Operations-Attractions Representative will support Denver Zoo’s mission and goals by providing a safe and engaging experience for our guests at our attractions and throughout the park as well as performing the following duties.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Provide friendly and courteous service to all guests and departments.
  • Engage with guests prior to and after the rides to create a memorable experience.
  • Create a fun, safe and engaging environment while operating attractions including, children’s train, carousel, 4D Theater, Stingray Cove and Lorikeet Adventure.
  • Complete scheduled cleaning tasks and also ensure the rides are clean and presentable at all times during operation.
  • Provide efficient and accurate collection of tokens or tickets in exchange for entry to attractions.
  • Utilize daily checklists to complete start up and shutdown procedures for other rides and attractions.
  • Constantly evaluate the attractions and surrounding areas for any safety concerns or situations that could impact guest experience.
  • Constantly monitor guests participating in attractions and correct any issues (specifically safety) in a courteous manner.
  • Effectively communicate with team members and other zoo staff by using platforms including a two- way radio, desk phone and email.
  • Assist with opening and closing of the water feature (small river for children to play in).
  • Monitor the water feature attraction through-out the day and report any safety concerns accordingly.
  • Maintain a professional attitude and appearance.
  • Engage in friendly conversation with guests and offer information about the history of the zoo as well as current updates.
  • Ensure the overall cleanliness of the zoo by picking up trash and debris and reporting any concerns to the appropriate department.
  • Actively watch for any safety concerns within the zoo for our guests, staff and animals and report to a manager or security supervisor.

Other Responsibilities and Duties

  • Adheres to ride incident/accident reporting procedure.
  • Ensure all rides and facilities operate properly, and address/resolve any issues as they arise.
  • Ensure all location checklists are done prior to opening and any issues have been either resolved or reported.
  • Inspect the department locations through the eyes of the visitor look for safety hazards and ensure that any irregularities are reported for correction.
  • Participates in the zoo’s Zoo Patrol program by ensuring safe offloading of children from school busses in the east parking lot and directing them to the appropriate locations.
  • Assists the Attractions, Events, Admissions, Guest Care Center and Security teams with a variety of projects.
  • Assists with snow removal.
  • Performs various duties as assigned.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and make safe decisions in noisy, crowded situations.

Technical / Professional Requirements & Qualifications

  • Minimum three months in a customer service role.
  • Willing and available to work diverse schedules, including weekdays, weekend days, and evenings.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish a plus.

Position Conditions

  • Ability to work outside for up to 7 hours at a time.
  • Ability to walk (80 acres) and/or stand up to 8 hours daily in extreme cold and extreme heat.
  • Ability to work dexterously with hands and arms and lift up to 25 pounds.

Compensation

Hourly Rate: $17.29

Benefits

This is a seasonal position and as such is not eligible for benefits at this time; however sick time is accrued.
