E&E Foods is launching a search for Seasonal Fish Buyers at our Coffee Point & Big Creek Plant in Egegik, Alaska. In this role, the ideal candidate will perform a variety of tasks that include Fish buyers perform a variety of tasks that include interfacing directly with fishermen, weighing fish, documenting the fish purchased on fish tickets, and the overall handling, storage, and transportation of fresh fish. In addition, they will uphold and demonstrate compliance with company policies and procedures.

We are looking for strong communicators with the desire to join a great team, learn about the commercial fishery, and are prepared to do whatever needs done to get the job done. This role requires patience, flexibility, and a desire to work as hard as the situation demands.

Employee must have the ability to understand and follow all instructions and safety rules.

Basic computer skills are required. Experience operating forklifts and/or hydraulic cranes is not necessary, but a definite plus.

Fish buyers perform a variety of tasks that include interfacing directly with fishermen, weighing fish, documenting the fish purchased on fish tickets, and the overall handling, storage, and transportation of fresh fish. This is a physical job that requires getting into/out of large trucks, shoveling ice, removing/replacing lids of insulated totes, and working long shifts outdoors. Employees must work calmly and efficiently in order to buy as much fish as possible while maintaining quality.

Employees will be working with wild salmon, so there is a natural level of unpredictability as to the timing and numbers of fish coming into the river. The job requires working as a team to be ready to buy and move fish during all fishing periods.

The work environment is weather dependent: ranging from warm and sunny to cold, windy and wet. Working outdoors in a remote environment is not an experience for everyone, and candidates should understand their limitations. People who struggle with mobility should consider employment in another department or a different industry.

SALARY & BENEFITS:

• The starting wage is $18.06 to $19.50 per hour straight time and $27.09 to $29.25 per hour overtime.
• Round trip airfare from largest city near point of hire to plan location in Alaska.
• Free room and board

WORK ENVIRONMENT and LIVING LOCATION:

• Must be able to sustain a 12 hour per day/7 days a week work schedule for the duration of the season, approximately Mid May/Early June through late July/early August.
• Hours and days of work are entirely dependent upon the Alaska Department of Fish & Game’s announced fishing openings, which are determined by pre-/mid-season predictions and actual fish movement.
• Housing is dormitory style, and you may share a room with up to 3 people.
• There are no health care options readily accessible.
• There is no cellphone signal and limited internet available. Communication is very limited.
