Position Summary
The Security Liaison Manager is main point of contact for all security matters related to AIC's contract security providier. Assists in the development and implementation of all Security policies and procedures, and security program that responds to business needs while ensuring the safety of all AIC properties, employees, and contractors. Works with the Executive Director and AVP to implement programs relating to general safety, fire protection, accident prevention, events and security investigations. Provide direct supervision of contract security provider to ensure an efficient and cost effective security operation.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise Contract Security Officers
- Oversee contract security gallery, perimeter and special exhibition staffing.
- Monitor gallery Officers linking schedule and PSO II perimeter rotations.
- Monitor contract officer’s performance, conduct and disciplinary matters.
- Monitor communications of information both verbal and written to all Officers as needed.
- Receive and maintain area manager reports daily from contracted security supervisors.
- Monitor on post training with Officers in relation to policy/procedures, emergency exit doors and building occupants during emergency evacuations.
- Overseeing conduct / complement of all investigations of any incidents. Gathering all pertinent information-ensuring reports are completed.
- Monitor Inspections of Officers uniform personal appearance and equipment and making on the spot corrections as necessary or with contract provider.
- Oversee contracted security response to CCTV, alarms, or further communications from Command Center.
- Assist with special events, security details and scheduling security escorts. Oversight/knowledge of event, able to work evenings and late hours.
- Off days in accordance with contracted security schedule, with flexibilities for AIC holidays and PTO.
- Attend contracted security Quarterly Business Reviews and orientation trainings for new hires.
- Conduct final interview process for potential new hires security Officers, PSO’II and supervisors.
- Continued focus on contract security personal growth and preforming at a high level to preform operation during contracted tenor.
- Keep Executive Director and AVP apprised of concerns or issues regarding contract security services.
Develop and administer Security Officer training program.
- Provide orientation and basic training course for new personnel.
- Prepare/conduct ongoing Field Training Officer (FTO) program to insure property training, training materials and maintain training records.
- Prepare/conduct on-post and in-service training for all Security Officers and maintain training records.
- Prepare/distribute educational materials to heighten knowledge and professionalism.
- Review/design emergency evacuation plan and provide emergency evacuation training.
Assure that all AIC personnel and property are protected against a variety of risks and vulnerabilities.
- Maintain security presence in the Museum.
- Conduct internal investigations to prevent or respond to losses or other incidents.
- Serve in an on-call capacity during non-business hours.
- Ensure proficiency to provide personal protective services as required.
- Work with other departments coordinating activities within the Museum addressing the interaction of security function in the activity.
- Must be prepared to work a flexible schedule including Holidays and weekends.
Implement a security program that is responsive and proactive.
- Review and Implement Department of Protection Services (DOPS) policies/procedures.
- Review/ Department of Protection Services (DOPS) operations manuals and share with Director any information that is not current or may require review.
- Provide security training to non-security personnel in AIC.
- Provide directional procedures for building occupants during emergency evacuation.
- Ensure timely corrective action in response to reported security incidents.
- Assist Executive Director, Museum Operations with internal and external clients.
- Administer security support systems (ID badge; lock/key control; electronics access control; etc.).
- Define, document, and monitor the removal of any AIC property.
- Maintain professional liaison with law enforcement and security organizations.
- Administer support for computerized scheduling and timekeeping systems.
Qualifications
EDUCATION: College degree preferred
EXPERIENCE: Must have at least 3+ years working experience in security industry and experience in staff management is required.
SKILLS:
- Ability to manage challenging visitors and employees
- Proven ability to think and make appropriate decisions/judgments on his/her own
- Ability to respond appropriately to emergencies, ad-hoc situations and work under pressure
- Must have strong verbal and written skills, and good interpersonal skills
- Excellent public relations and diplomatic skills is required
- Must be computer literate and proven knowledgeable in Microsoft Office applications/programs
- Good organizational skills and ability to prioritize work
- Ability to address and resolve conflicts
- Experience in cultural property protection is a plus
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
- Seeing, hearing, speaking and writing clearly in order to communicate with employees and clients, observe and report incidents, and direct others.
- Must be physically fit to respond to alarms and/or emergencies.
- Must be physically able to stand over 67% of a shift.
- Must be physically able to walk up to 66% of a shift.
- Must be physically able to sit over 67% of a shift.
- Must be able to climb straight ladders and steeper stairs up to 33% of time during a shift.
- Ability to perform prolonged standing, walking on ramps, climbing and walking through narrow passageways
- Must be able to bend to reach controls, to lock/unlock doors, look under desks, and check flush pins.
- Must be able to stoop under beams and through 49” height doorway in lay light area when patrolling.
- Must be able to squat and/or kneel to unlock doors and assist patrons and/or employees in an emergency.
- Must be able to lift and/or carry an up to 75 pounds as needed on night shift and up to 50 pounds during the day shift.
- Must be able to exert 50 -100 lbs. of force occasionally, 25 – 50 lbs. frequently, or up to 10 – 20 lbs. constantly.
- May be routinely exposed to environmental hazards such as; walking on uneven surfaces, extremes in temperature or humidity, dust/gas/fumes, noise, climbing stairs, and heights.
- May be exposed to all climatic conditions when patrolling outside the museum.
