The role is responsible for the full monthly, quarterly, and annual financial closing process. It is responsible for assisting in developing and maintaining accounting principles, practices, and procedures to ensure accurate and timely financial statements. This position addresses tight deadlines and a multitude of accounting activities including general ledger preparation, financial reporting, and year-end audit preparation. This role will have direct contact with Catholic United Financials, Director of Finance & Accounting, the SVP-Treasurer, as well as other Catholic United staff.

Requirements:

What you get to do:

  • Prepare end to end Annual/Quarterly Statement reporting for the NAIC with assistance of other team members.
  • Complete monthly close and completing all month end activities – meeting required SLAs. Including sharing the results of the narrative of the results to various audiences.
  • Responsible for completion of the monthly reconciliation of the balance sheet accounts, including timely clearing reconciling items.
  • Work with the Director of Finance & Accounting to ensure a clean and timely year-end audit, including preparation of schedules and analysis
  • Support the Director of Finance & Accounting with special projects and workflow process improvements.
  • Responsible for completion of the organization’s Form 990.
  • Work with our tax reporting provider for year-end 1099 reporting.
  • Obtain and maintain a thorough understanding of our financial reporting and general ledger structure.
  • Proactively collaborate with the Appointed Actuary and External Auditors.
  • Collaborate with the other finance department members to support overall department goals and objectives.

What we need to see in you:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent work experience.
  • 5 to 7 years progressive experience in General Ledger Accounting.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting
  • Must have strong experience with Microsoft Office products, especially Excel.
  • Effective ability to communicate using clear and concise oral and written communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret financial reports.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including clear and concise communication with non-accounting professional
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including internal and external service skills.
  • Strong team player

  • FLMI certification
  • CPA credentials
