Senior Accountant, Grants Job at Greater Lawrence Family Health Center
Established in 1980, the Greater Lawrence Family Health Center (GLFHC) is a multi-site mission-driven non-profit organization employing over 700 staff whose primary focus is providing the highest quality patient care to residents throughout the Merrimack Valley. Nationally recognized as a leader in community medicine (family practice, pediatrics, internal medicine, and geriatrics), GLFHC has clinical sites throughout the service area and is the sponsoring organization for the Lawrence Family Medicine Residency program.
GLFHC is currently seeking a Grant Accountant to join our Finance team. The Grant Accountant is responsible for managing the Grant Function of the Health Center in accordance in with policies established by the Board of Directors, management and Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
- Prepare, review, and submit monthly grant and contract vouchers, ensuring timely completion and maximized reimbursement.
- Oversee and maintain detailed supporting documentation for all grant and contract billing submissions, ensuring amounts billed reconcile to expenses charged in the general ledger.
- Serve as the Finance subject matter expert to GLFHC program staff as well as federal, state, and local funding agencies, addressing all questions and issues relating to health center grants and contracts.
- Assist grant writers in developing budget proposals and narrative.
- Ensure that grant revenue is properly recognized and receivables are properly stated in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP). Maintain detailed supporting schedules of revenue, receivable, and deferred/temporarily restricted balances in the general ledger.
- Deferred Revenue: Maintain detailed supporting schedules and documentation for monthly deferred revenue accounts. Ensure that grant revenue is appropriately deferred and recognized in the proper accounting periods.
- Responsible for the preparation, completion, and filing of the Financial Status Reports and PMS 272 Reports, ensuring all schedules are completed and submitted to auditing agencies by the filing deadlines and detailed supporting documentation is maintained by the health center.
Qualifications:
- Four to six years in a progressively responsible accounting or finance position. Experience in federal, state, and local grant funding and accounts payable required.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required, combination of education and experience will be considered.
