The Senior Analyst, Corporate Development & Strategy role reports to the Director, Corporate Development & Strategy and will support the development, execution, and sustainment of the company’s short-, medium-, and long-term corporate strategy. The Senior Analyst will build and maintain complex models as well as analyze and summarize key industry trends to advise management on strategic initiatives. The role will also support activities attendant to developing and executing transactions with third parties, including origination, due diligence, negotiation, and post-transaction management activities. The Senior Analyst will assist in assessing risk and return for various deal scenarios, researching and developing proposals and/or counterproposals, performing deal/project/market studies, and stakeholder engagement within broader organization. The role includes analysis and building of reports, presentations, financial models, and other materials with the final product ultimately being distributed to Senior VP, Corporate Development & Strategy, Senior Management and Board of Directors.

KNOWLEDGE

The ideal candidate should have a firm background in analytical and quantitative thinking and have experience in the LNG and energy industry. Individual must possess a strong transactional/finance background with significant experience in (i) investment banking, corporate finance, or similar field involving in-depth valuation and analytical requirements and a high degree of technical/mathematical competence, (ii) M&A / deal execution involving strategy, origination, due diligence, and client/counterparty management. Experience in power/pipeline infrastructure/project development and markets is strongly preferred. An understanding of global energy market fundamentals, especially LNG markets, combined with industry knowledge of key elements of the midstream business and climate-related investment/analysis is ideal. Must have the ability to communicate up, across, and down the organizational structure.

RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Build and maintain financial models to support investment decisions and new business ventures.
  • Evaluate and conduct due diligence on inorganic growth opportunities, including but not limited to asset acquisitions, early-stage investment, and new business opportunities.
  • Assess synergistic investments (i.e. pipelines, power generation, etc.) that facilitate Cheniere’s operational needs.
  • Evaluate organic LNG growth opportunities at Cheniere’s Sabine Pass and Corpus Christi facilities, including incremental LNG production or entering new markets by leveraging existing infrastructure.
  • Develop presentations for Senior Management and the Board of Directors.
  • Coordinate strategic development plans across functions within the company.

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS)

  • Education and Certifications : Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Math, or closely related field is required.
  • Experience : 2+ years’ experience within Investment Banking, or 4+ years’ experience in Corporate Development and/or Commercial roles.
  • Skills :
  • Energy industry background, preferably LNG
    • Solid understanding of energy/finance markets
    • Ideal candidate will have worked in power/pipeline infrastructure /project development space
  • Strong analytical background/capabilities
    • Strong business analysis and modeling skills, especially with Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
    • Analyzing complex datasets and markets, drawing out key trends and insights, as well as economic and business rationales for decisions based on fundamental analysis and research
    • Vetting transactions and project opportunities
    • Building business plans and developing informed investment theses to evaluate growth opportunities
    • Applying financial knowledge and skills independently to perform variety of ad hoc technical analysis
  • Transactional Background
    • Assist Corporate Development Group with executing on investments and transaction utilizing partnership or other structures
  • Strong presentation/communication skills
    • Building/refining PowerPoint decks, working within organization for input and feedback, and presenting content to peers and seniors
    • Drafting executive committee and board materials that include financial forecasts and relevant analyses
    • Working with internal and external groups in designing and maintaining tools, models, and databases useful to performing the functions of corporate development
  • Strong time management skills and the ability to prioritize multiple tasks and projects concurrently while meeting deadlines
    • Highly organized and motivated with strong analytical and critical thinking abilities
    • Leveraging solid judgement, high integrity, and sound decision-making skills

WORK CONDITIONS

  • Job is performed in a typical office environment, but is subject to time pressures and constraints, and is often dependent on input from others.

  • Required to travel as business conditions dictate.
