Senior Auditor, Internal Job at Cheniere Energy, Inc.
The Senior Auditor, Internal will assist with the execution of internal audit projects covering the areas of financial and operational assurance. These projects will be aimed at improving the Company’s risk mitigation activities, enhancement of business and financial processes, identification and communication of best practices, and fostering an appropriate control environment in the corporate and support functions.
KNOWLEDGE
The successful candidate will support the execution of internal audit projects covering the areas of corporate governance, commercial, finance and accounting, risk management, operations and compliance processes. Candidate must display strong technical accounting skills and a solid understanding of the audit process including comprehensive knowledge of internal audit standards and practices, principles and procedures in order to perform a variety of assignments.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES
- Perform audits in the areas of corporate governance, commercial, finance and accounting, risk management, operations and compliance with minimal oversight including audit planning, workpaper documentation and preparation of clear, concise, logical and informative audit reports
- Understand relevant accounting pronouncements and their impact on the Company’s financial reporting structure and internal controls environment
- Develop a comprehensive knowledge of the Company’s operations and assess the effects of industry practices on potential risks facing the organization
- With general guidance, synthesize knowledge gained during projects in formulating and updating the department’s audit approach and understanding of risk
- Monitor and review actions taken by management to correct issues reported by audit findings. Determine the appropriateness of corrective actions and initiate further discussions with management and staff as deemed necessary
- Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and effectiveness in delivery of the internal audit plan through the use of integrated audits and utilization of data analytics
QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS)
- Education and Certifications: A Bachelor’s Degree is required with a preference for Accounting or Finance. Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is preferred and other designations are desirable.
- Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of Experience working at a “Big Four” accounting firm or in combined consulting and industry experience with exposure to financial accounting and operational controls in publicly traded companies. Energy industry experience is preferred.

- Self-starter; capable of following established guidelines/procedures with minimal direction
- Driven to deliver quality results on time, with a high degree of integrity and in a highly ethical and professional manner
- Strong oral and written communication skills with experience interacting and presenting at management level; ability to see the broad implications of events, as well as understand the details
- Organized and able to manage multiple activities of moderate complexity in a timely and accurate manner with general supervisory guidance
- Computer literate with typical office packages and basic computer literacy and the ability to learn new software and applications

WORK CONDITIONS
- Job is performed in a typical office environment, but is subject to time pressures and constraints, and is often dependent on input from others
- Occasionally, work may be performed from home, after normal work hours or on weekends
- Travel may be required
- May be required to work overtime
- Subject to drug and alcohol testing, per applicable federal regulations or as required by Cheniere
