Senior Buyer - Software Job at VSP Global
Advance the objectives of strategic sourcing, contracting, and post-sourcing efforts to meet the needs of internal customers and stakeholders for assigned expenditure categories and projects. Develop work products essential to achievement of cost, quality, and service performance.
Function as core member of cross-functional team (as appropriate) through Sourcing process, institutionalize defined sourcing methodology, analyze corporate expenditures, identic cost drivers, develop and implement customer-driven strategies to reduce total supply chain costs
Participate in sourcing strategies aligned to client needs (e.g. pricing, multi-round, etc.); demonstrate consistent understanding of category dynamics to guide effective decision-making; gain full understanding of specific category objectives, boundaries, and opportunities; provides regular feedback to team on potential risks within assigned categories
Develop cost models as appropriate for assigned spend categories, including details for all cost components that might be opportunities for improvement or negotiations
Development of selection criteria and evaluation tools that will be used in the selection process; prepare materials to initiate Request for Information (RFI), Request for Quotation (RFQ), Request for Proposal (RFP), and/or Auction as appropriate to solicit information and costs from various suppliers, existing and new; ensure all sourcing activities within assigned responsibility (all, “RFx”) are properly recorded and administered
Assess determination of terms that will make optimal contribution to VSP’s bottom line, leading to specific supplier recommendations and terms
Ensure supplier relationships are established, implemented, and managed in the most optimal manner; incorporating supplier performance metrics for key spend categories as determined jointly with VSP management
Job Specifications
Typically has the following skills or abilities:
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or other related field or equivalent experience
2+ years of experience conducting strategic sourcing and contracting activities for one or more of the following categories: Information Technology, Professional Services, General Services, Marketing & Advertising, Printing, Property Management, Office Products, Medical and/or Laboratory Supplies
Proficient understanding of the strategic sourcing process, including expenditure analysis, cross-functional team formation & management, RFx development & administration, proposal analysis, negotiations, and contract formation/execution
Proficiency in Procurement Fundamentals, including P2P process execution, contract development, contract management, negotiations, and cost modeling
Demonstrated capability in use of e-Sourcing / e-Procurement / Spend Management tools, understanding functionality and applicability
Ability to effectively and efficiently gather relevant data and market analysis needed to understand the internal environment and external marketplace
Ability to manage large or multi-stage RFx’s with minimal oversight
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to influence others in team and one-on-one settings and meeting facilitation skills
Ability to regularly exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of his/her job duties
