Accountabilities / Responsibilities:

As part of SCA Health’s Marketing, Communications, Content, and Events (MCCE) Team, the Senior Communications Specialist will support the development and execution of the organization’s external communications strategy. This dynamic communications professional will implement SCA Health’s external communications strategy through media (print, digital, social), thought leadership, executive visibility, industry conferences and events, reputation management, and more.


  • Develop and implement external communications strategy to effectively engage key stakeholders and increase SCA Health brand visibility/awareness
  • Develop and manage external communication campaigns with omni-channel deployment including traditional, digital, and social strategies
  • Proactively Identify, secure, and support content development for external speaking engagements, sponsored content, blogs, podcasts, etc.
  • Lead media relations efforts and relationships with national, local, and trade media, both outbound and inbound activities
  • Support key stakeholders and executive leaders on content and message development for external speaking and thought leadership opportunities
  • Evaluate and effectively respond to reputational challenges, issues, and crises in a fast-paced, demanding environment.
  • Partner closely with the content team to support messaging for SCA Health’s external website, blog, and social media channels
  • Partner closely with internal communications team to ensure consistency and continuity in message discipline across internal/external channels
Qualifications:
Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree (in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related discipline)
  • 5-7 years of communications experience
  • 3+ years of external communications experience (agency experience preferred)
  • Strong writing and editing skills
  • Extensive writing and editing experience with a focus on quality and clarity. Ability to flex and write/edit effectively for different audiences, applying appropriate tone, detail, and message elevation for each unique situation.
  • Experience and skill working with sophisticated news media and experience serving as a company spokesperson with media.
  • Demonstrated experience developing and leading successful multi-channel engagement campaigns integrating traditional, digital, and social strategies.
  • Strong interpersonal skills both in person and by the phone with high professionalism
  • Experience managing multiple projects in a fast-paced, complex environment
  • Ability to prioritize and operate effectively in a highly matrixed, complex business and communications environment, including simultaneously supporting multiple stakeholders and effectively advancing multiple communication priorities
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
  • May work remotely with the ability to travel as needed, approximately 5-7x per year.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in the healthcare industry
  • 3+ years of project management experience
