General Overview

The Senior Learning Technologist (SLT) is an essential consulting role focused on expanding the use of technology across the P&OD function. This individual will identify potential technologies that will improve the learning experience and overall impact on individuals and the organization. They will lead the selection and management of delivery platforms, and consult with the entire P&OD function to identify and integrate supporting technologies.

Reporting to the Manager of Learning Technology, the SLT will drive development of technology assisted learning solutions. In partnership with the Organization Development and Learning function, the SLT will design alternative teaching modalities and content delivery methods. The SLT will assist in the creation of educational materials and resources for both live and virtual synchronous workshops as well as online, self-directed and asynchronous learning. They will also be responsible for third-party online learning content including sourcing, integration, and reporting.

The SLT will partner with HR Operations to support the evaluation, implementation and management of enabling technologies to support the P&OD department including learning, OD, leadership development, talent mobility and project management. This will include but not be limited to the HRIS, LMS, LXP, web sites, and other online channels that foster collaborative and peer learning.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities

Consulting
Work with both the P&OD department and MGB institutions to recommend learning enablement technologies. Drive more effective learning, consistency and scalability.



Instructional design
Work with instructional design group to build design solutions that leverage new technologies and enable improved learning.



Collaboration
Work with P&OD colleagues and Human Resource Business Partners to but understand the shared learning goals and objectives for the organization. Offer professional insights to better meet those needs by identifying or creating learning technology solutions.



Professional growth and development
Continue to advance one’s knowledge, skills and abilities in learning technically and other people and organization development-related areas.



Evaluation and analysis
Constantly scan the environment to determine current and future needs and identify progressive, enabling technologies. Strive to promote collaboration and innovation to keep Mass General Brigham at the cutting edge of learning technologies.

Problem Solving

The SLT needs to continuously monitor and predict the evolving needs of our employees and patients and develop solutions to maximize return on learning time. Designing and implementing solutions that meet these needs calls for rapid iteration, troubleshooting and systems integration. Some of the challenges that may arise include course tracking and function and systems integration. The SLT will need to be innovative, a risk taker and technically astute to be successful in this role.

Impact
This role will call for both proactive and reactive decision-making skills. The P&OD department is mandated with delivering learning to all 81,000 employees. This requires scalable solutions that are effective, accessible and manageable. Selecting (learning and delivery) platforms and technologies that can be integrated into existing and future systems is critical to the long-term success of the organization and the P&OD department.

Evaluating and selecting learning methodologies such as AI, adaptive, AR/VR will enable faster and deeper learning. The SLT will explore these types of learning to improve return on learning time invested.

Interactions / Interpersonal Skills

The SLT will provide technology solutions for learners across multiple education levels, experiences and backgrounds. They will need mature, interpersonal communication skills to cover a range of client and team technology knowledge, communicate complex topics into layman terms. They will need to convince experts and senior leaders of the benefits and long term returns of investments in technology. This will call for the ability to influence without formal authority.

Qualifications

  • Masters Degree or Equivalent Work Experience
  • 5 Years of experience required with full cycle course design, development, and publishing, 7 years preferred
