POSITION SUMMARY

This position is for a full-time, seasoned Senior Project Architect within the Planning and Architecture Service Group at Spicer Group. We are looking for a candidate with the dual ability to lead projects and support the Architectural team.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Lead group in development of Architectural projects involving renovations or new construction.
  • Overseeing programming, design, development of construction documents and construction administration.
  • Oversee financial performance of the group, maintain budget guidelines and profitability
  • Manage Architectural projects in major segments of design where complex, multi-faceted, and coordinated work is required, directing assigned personnel, meeting cost and time schedules and producing quality results.
  • Perform review for compliance with codes and standards. Prepare scope of work, cost proposals and contracts for potential work.
  • Direct and manage Architects, Designers and Project Managers reporting to this position.
  • Prepare workload projections and manage financial performance of the department.
  • Conduct complex feasibility and operating studies aimed at evaluating alternative systems and methods.
  • Coordinate client contact and maintain working relationships with existing and potential clients. Ensure contractual commitments are met and work is being performed according to the client's instructions.
  • Perform Quality Control reviews and ensure consistency and high quality in all work product.
  • Improve business development. Initiate and maintain contacts with key professionals and officials of other organizations and companies.



Job Requirements:

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • Professional degree in Architecture is required
  • Registered Architect in the state of MI required
  • 15 years of progressively responsible experience in architecture working on concurrent projects, collaborating with multiple design disciplines, and technical production projects.
  • Municipal, Educational, and Public Housing project experience is preferred.
  • Working experience with AutoCad and Microsoft Office Software
  • Working knowledge and application of building codes and design standards required
  • Strong written and oral presentation skills and excellent time management skills.
  • Experience in a variety of project types, scale, and complexity; following projects from conception through completion.
  • Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites and complying with all applicable safety codes and requirements.
