Role Summary

The Senior Vice President, Corporate Strategy and Business Development will report to the President and will be a key member of the President’s leadership team. This individual will be responsible for developing and leading the business development, corporate strategy, competitive intelligence, and alliance management functions. This highly visible and critical role will lead develop the company’s business development strategy and process, in line with the company’s corporate strategy, and collaborate with senior members of the management team, especially, R&D, Commercial, Legal and Finance, to deliver results through sell-side and buy-side deal executions. Through close collaboration with the president and the executive team, this individual will also facilitate the ongoing refinement of the company’s value creation strategy and long-range plan. The Senior Vice President will be responsible for developing the process and leading the organization that will develop appropriate financial models, valuations, and market assessments to achieve optimal value extraction for business development deals.

Key Responsibilities

    Lead business development activities with the goal of onboarding quality deals with the proper rigor, transparency, diligence, and governance
    Develop corporate strategy leveraging a broad understanding of the biotech ecosystem, build out market and competitive insights strategy, cultivate a vibrant professional network, and leverage sound scientific and business acumen
    Lead and manage a high-performing business development team while setting high performance standards that are aligned to corporate goals and objectives
    Build, lead and manage a strong alliance management function inclusive of ensuring that positive relationships with key external constituencies and peers at existing and alliance partners and other advisors are working effectively
    Initiate and scale up Competitive Intelligence function as a COE which will leverage deep knowledge of CNS industry, customer/competitor strategy, and neuro therapeutic development trends as well as Cerevel’s portfolio to advise team on thought partnership approach biopharma companies and accelerating innovative partnership opportunities across our novel portfolio

Required Qualifications

    Deep knowledge of business development, corporate development, or strategic pipeline experience with demonstrated track record of closing business development transactions including co-development, in/out license, equity financing, research and technology deals, co-promotions, and strategic partnerships within the pharmaceutical industry
    Substantial knowledge of drug discovery, development, and commercialization process strategies, and insights to the current global regulatory environment
    Exceptional Deal sheet
    Excellent communication skills, including the ability to effectively present complex issues and solutions to the executive team, Board of Directors, and other key stakeholders
    Experience leading high performing teams (direct and cross functional) with a demonstrated ability to work effectively in a collaborative, fast-paced, dynamic environment
    High tolerance for ambiguity and an infectious passion, ambition and drive that adds to an already entrepreneurial company environment and culture

Desired Qualifications

    Neuroscience experience, strongly desired but not required

Education

    BA or BS required; PhD or Masters in a relevant scientific discipline is a plus, MBA preferred
