The Role

The Senior Warehouse Engineer will lead projects of cross-departmental impact, identify process improvements, and bring projects to a successful conclusion while exceeding internal and external customer expectations. This position will be located at our South Charlotte Warehouse #LI-Onsite and you will report to the Warehouse Operations Manager.


  • Map and benchmark current warehouse processes (all aspects of the physical warehousing processes).
  • Continually identify areas for efficiency improvement / waste reduction.
  • Put together, implement, and execute efficiency improvement action plans to ensure completion, and to ensure the desired gains are achieved.
  • Evaluate current warehouse metrics / KPI and implementing new KPI's (where applicable) to drive the operation.
  • Become a system power user and administrator, to take full advantage of the system's functionality.
  • Monitor and enforce warehouse space utilization and ensure item storage guidelines are followed to reduce inventory holding costs and facilitate accurate inventory interactions.
  • Assess current warehouse location system and layout, and recommending layout optimization to facilitate the WMS implementation and to reduce pick time.
  • Identify safety hazards and implement corrective action.
  • Contribute to positive Company branding by projecting a knowledgeable, and customer-oriented image to customers.
  • Perform all responsibilities following Atlas Copco standards, while trying your best to understand the needs and expectations of the customer.
  • Take whatever action is appropriate and required to complete your objectives and to establish and maintain communications with all people/employees considered necessary.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

What we expect of you?

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in relevant field (Business / Engineering / Supply Chain)
  • Postgraduate education considered a strength.
  • Formal Six Sigma training / Lean Warehousing training an asset.

Experience

  • At least 10 years of relevant work experience, with a proven track record in fields related to lean warehousing, warehouse process mapping and process improvement, warehouse design / layout, barcoding.
  • WMS exposure and knowledge is a must (WMS implementation, administration, power user).
  • Exposure to the Receiving process.
  • Project Management experience.
  • Solid supply chain IT and SQL / query writing knowledge.
  • Proven safety track record.

  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, including root-cause analysis.
  • Ability to identify, understand, resolve, learn from and prevent problems.
  • Ability to balance competing priorities.
  • Process improvement and change management skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and written) business and technical information with all levels of employees, including senior management, with multiple delivery methods including email, training, presentations, and various types of documentation.
