Northrop Grumman Space Systems is Principal Data Scientist/ Sr Principal Data Scientist to join the Command and Launch Team (CLT). This position is in Huntsville, AL and supports the Ground Based Strategic Deterrent (GBSD) program. Final grade level offered will be based on candidate level of experience.

What You’ll Get To Do:

As a Data Scientist with Sentinel, you will be part of the team that is responsible for designing, developing, and validating analytical models and algorithms to support Mission Analysis and Design (M&D). Your responsibilities will include:

• Using mathematical and statistical methods to analyze data and make recommendations
• Developing data-driven models to support M&D activities
• Staying current on data mining/machine learning/artificial intelligence (AI) techniques and software tools
• Serving as an expert on the analysis and interpretation of data to support the development of products, processes, or systems
• Conducting trade studies related to projects, processes, products, or services
• Construct models in TensorFlow or PyTorch and adapt existing models to address our stakeholder's problem space
• Assist with the development of an end-to-end machine learning pipeline and manage and support maintenance and lifecycle management throughout the pipeline's lifecycle
• Support technical leadership by mentoring junior engineers in the areas of machine learning, data science, and artificial intelligence
• Network with other Northrop Grumman data science professionals to modernize our team's AI/ML methodologies and keep pace with industry best practices

This positions standard work schedule is a 9/80. The 9/80 schedule allows employees who work a nine-hour day Monday through Thursday to take every other Friday off. This role may offer a competitive relocation assistance package.

Job Qualifications:

You’ll Bring These Qualifications:

• Principal Data Scientist: 5 Years with Bachelors in Science; 3 Years with Masters; 0 Years with PhD or 4 additional years in lieu of a degree.
• Sr Principal Data Scientist: 9 Years with Bachelors in Science; 7 Years with Masters; 4 Years with PhD or 4 additional years in lieu of a degree.
• US Citizenship with active DoD Secret clearance with a reinvestigation date occurring in the last 5 years. and the ability to obtain Special Program Access (SAP)
• Knowledge of data gathering, cleansing and transformation techniques
• Proficiency with Python

These Qualifications Would be Nice to Have:

• DOD 8570 IAT level 2 or above certification or the ability to obtain within 6 months from the date of hire
• Active IAT Level II certification (e.g. Security+), or higher
• Understanding of Agile Software Development
• Strong applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
• Proficiency with R and SQL
• Previous experience with machine learning or deep learning
• Previous experience with containerized environments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift)
• Proficiency in data visualization and data storytelling
• Experience with version control software such as Git and TortoiseSVN
• Experience with ETL techniques and frameworks
• Knowledge of stream processing technologies (e.g., Apache Storm, Flink, Kafka Streams, Samza)
• Knowledge of Feature Stores (e.g., Tecton, Feature Form)
• Knowledge of Model Versioning technologies (e.g., Data Version Control, Pachyderm)
• Ability to communicate results effectively

Salary Range: $104,700 USD - $194,800 USD

Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
