Job Description
Our Service Technician is a critical contributor to providing our customers with quality service. Expect detailed training to achieve mastery of processes regarding our products and customer service procedures. There is a family dynamic at The Pond Guy that extends to the customer as we strive to give them the highest quality service possible.

Here are some examples of the actual work your day would include:

  • Assist customers onsite at their pond with algae and weed management
  • Converse with customers onsite about their concerns, questions and how they can proactively improve their pond's quality
  • Apply aquatic herbicides and algaecides, assuring compliance with standards and regulations
  • Accurately maintain daily log sheets
  • General maintenance of equipment, facility and land
  • Install and maintain various aeration and fountain systems
  • Assist other departments as needed including warehouse, assembly and maintenance
  • Work with equipment such as boats, four wheelers, motors, winches, emergent cutters, etc.

Don't know about ponds? That's ok! You'll be trained to be proficient in your job. We utilize an interactive combination of hands-on and visual training to ensure everyone has a full understanding of The Pond Guy's proactive approach to pond management. Don't worry, all training is paid.

Job Requirements
To be successful in this role, you need to have a certain amount of knowledge and skills:

  • Experience in chemical application and/or pesticides is preferred but is not required; we offer training and any certifications that are required
  • Knowledge of ponds a plus, but not required
  • Experience in the construction, landscaping or horticulture industries a plus, but not required.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, outgoing and pleasant with a focus on safety and procedures
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge in basic pond management and fish production a plus
  • Must possess a valid Michigan Driver's License with a clean driving record. Will require the ability to receive a Chauffer's license and DOT card
  • Ability to drive a boat as well as a truck and trailer will be required after training
  • High School diploma, college degree preferred

Because this position provides a variety of tasks, the physical requirements are required for both an in-office and in-the-field environment. This position requires manual dexterity for typing, sitting at a desk and looking at a computer screen for typing for long periods of time. This position also requires the ability to swim, manual dexterity for working with small components, ability to complete repetitive motions for long periods of time, bending, continual lifting, lowering and carrying packages that typically weigh 25 - 50 lbs. and managing packages up to 150 lbs as well as standing/stooping for long periods of time. In the field, expect adverse weather conditions including heat, cold, rain, etc. for portions of the position that may be completed in these circumstances.

We need a Service Technician that has a positive attitude and the words "can't" and "impossible" are not a part of your vocabulary. You'll have the ability to learn quickly and retain a large amount of information and offer exceptional customer service. This person should continually add value to the organization beyond their day-to-day tasks.

Availability
While this is a year-round position, during the months of April – September, you must be available to work between the hours of 7am and 6pm Monday-Friday. Due to traffic and weather conditions as well as ensuring compliance with treatment regulations, there is opportunity for over time during April – September extending past 6pm. During peak season there are little to no Saturdays. The remaining months will have a Monday-Friday schedule. We are hiring immediately.

This position pays $18-$22 per hour. This position has benefits that includes:
