Our Shipping Coordinator maintains all shipping records and organizes files and documents. This position prepares records of shipments and bills of lading for all types of carriers, prepares records for receipt of incoming material and outgoing customer orders, and posts to open orders of suppliers. The overall responsibility of this role is to ensure the accuracy of shipping documents and internal documents by accurately maintaining company documentation in relation to the shipment of goods and the equipment and materials used in the process.
What You’ll Do:
- Purchase and maintain office materials and supplies for department
- Assist in contacting third party logistics to plan and issue instructions and documents for shipping and delivery of materials, including but not limited to data entry
- Complete necessary management reports as required
- Maintain inventory and maintenance logs of all machines and machinery/tools used in the shipping department
- Determine shipping method for materials and notify department management of delayed or missed shipments
- Prepare and maintain correspondence such as work orders, packing slips, bills of lading, customer memos, and shipping orders; file/process/organize previous day's orders
- Maintain, explain, and follow all safety standards set up by Grede for personal use as well as to outside/internal personnel as necessary
- Work to maintain and understand all the cornerstones of the Grede quality policy
- Serve as central point of contact for shipping department and answer/document requests from internal and external customers

What We Need from You:
- High School Diploma or equivalent; Two-year degree preferred
- At least one (1) year of prior shipping and receiving experience within a manufacturing environment preferred
- Proficient in the use of computers, including Microsoft Office and spreadsheets
- Experience with Odyssey inventory system is preferred
- Strong customer service skills
- Perform day-to-day administrative tasks such as maintaining information files and processing paperwork with extreme accuracy
- Effectively and professionally communicate, both verbally and in writing, at all levels of the organization, including co-workers, supervisors, and external customers
- Ability to analyze information, evaluate results, and make informed judgments to solve problems
- Process information including compiling, coding, categorizing, calculating, tabulating, auditing, or verifying data
- Physical requirements: sedentary work, exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or move objects, including the human body
- Worker must be able to access, analyze, and otherwise work with, enter information stored in or obtained through the company's computer system, and communicate effectively with co-workers and third parties who have business dealings with company operations
- Travel Requirements: Little to no travel anticipated with this position
